Kell Brook hasn't fought the greatest level of competition... Frankie Gavin and two outings against Carson Jones... both mid-level fighters. He only recently stepped up in competition and beat Porter and gave an excellent showing of mettle against GGG...

Everyone keeps saying Spence hasn't fought anyone, even Brook's trainer brings up Algeri as Spence's best win. That's all fine and everything but at least keep in mind that Spence has been a pro for about 4-5 years now and Brook has been a pro for 13 years and his best win they talk about took place 10 years after turning pro. Its comical how Brook's trainer brings up the caliber of Spences 's first 21st opponents when Brook's first 21st opponents don't even compare in quality. Brook was fighting guys with 80+ losses on their record during that stretch.
Brooks first 21st opponents combined record = 276-862-50
Spence first 21st opponents combined record= 326-69-18Comment

Spence's competition is on par for a guy who's been a pro for for years. Brook's been a pro for 13 years and has pretty much fought the same level of guys other than Porter and GGG. And Porter is given more credit than he really deservesI think this will be a great fight! I have to go with Brook in this one. He's right in his assessment of Spence, he's fought a lot of low level competition and is unproven fighting at this level. The unproven part is what makes this fight intrigueing. Spence has talent and may have more talent than he's been able to show up to this point. I suspect a barn burner in this match up. Don't miss it!Comment

Funny how people don't mention Brook's competition. He beat Porter, big deal... but at least mention that he fought Porter after being a pro for 10 years.Comment

Spence is gonna feel the heat from the roar of those 30,000 football, er I mean boxing fans. Could freeze and get worked over.Comment

The fact it took Brook so long to fight good opposition is irrelevant. It's the fact that he's a known commodity at that level now, whereas Spence isnt yet. It doesn't matter at which stage a guy fought who. One is proven at higher level than the other at this stage and thats the only meaning it has as far as this fight is concerned. Also, the Porter win has to be seen in context. When Brook beat him, he was seen as a destroyer after the fight with Paulie. Since Brook beat him he gave Thurman all he could handle. So, however you spin it, it's a very good win.Comment

I can't forget about the Golovkin fight, because I can't forget how strong and solid Kell looked at 160, or how he took GGG's best shots without going down, after being wobbled a couple of times by much lighter punchers at 147.
That told me how hard he must be working to fight at WW. Spence is a good prospect, but the biggest danger to Brook in this fight is the weight, not the opponent or the orbital bone.Comment
