Why are fans so obsessed with PPV sales and attendance figures?

Can someone explain? Thought I was on a boxing forum not the financial Times. If the guy wins in the ring, do you have to find some other way to try and discredit them? Is it some mind of moral victory for you? Does it vindicate your hatred for said fighter?...

It seems trivial but these figures are influential when discussing the percentages fans think fighters get in future fights. Just like on football forums we discuss transfer fees, it's not our money but it's a worthwhile discussion to have with fellow fans.

The only problem is when fans celebrate poor ticket sales and PPV numbers, that's not supporting the sport.

It's not fans who are obsessed, it's Mayweather era holdovers. They think PPV sales equate to greatness.

It's important so when a fight doesn't happens, we know if someone is pricing themselves out, and who is to blame.

Remember when GGG fans mocked Floyd for ONLY doing 400K buys with Berto? Then mocked Ward saying I"m the A side we don't need you we got PPV fights why ain't you fighting on PPV? Remember when GGG fans so ****y predicting 500K buys with Lemieux and saying how GGG was about to take as the new cash cow?...Then he bombed 97K-150K buys and all a sudden PPV don't mean nothing why you guys talking about PPVs. Second bomb in a row got you guys emotional and angry at world huh LMAO

I guess its just some peoples cup of tea. Me personally I enjoy boxing for its athletic attributes not financial. But there are those that like boxing as a business. Then there are those who like it for Nationalistic or race reasons.

If I were to judge though, if you dont like boxing for the fight or training, chances are you are not a real fan. If you like business go sign up for the Fortune 500 magazine and if you are a nationalistic guy go join your countries military.
