Do people judge with the 'Take it from the Champ' system anymore?

When I grew up, people would give a close round to the champion. Does this culture still apply? If a challenger doesn't do that bit more than the champ, the champ often won the round. I believe judges tend to still stick to this, but I may be wrong

Because Golovkin didn't take his belts, they were given to him?

Always seemed like an excuse to rob the (usually less marketable) challenger to me

What do you mean? If you mean yesterday then there weren't a decisive 7 rounds to either fighter. Some were razor thin rounds tbh

I'll give close rounds to the champ if I felt he won them slightly. I judge fights round by round. This "take it from the champ" crap is dumb. Win more rounds you win the fight, even if it isn't pleasing to some people

I've seen people repeat that line on Facebook and Instagram comments so I guess some still hold to that ideology.

If it's a close fight and it goes to the challenger then so be it, the champion should have done more to distinguish himself from his opponent.

It isn't a "system" and never has been.
