Comments Thread For: Daniel Jacobs: I Won That Fight, I Beat Golovkin By Two Points!

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, the most fearsome knockout artist of this era, was pushed to the limit by Daniel Jacobs before retaining his world middleweight titles by decision at Madison Square Garden on Friday. Jacobs, known as "Miracle Man" since coming back from bone cancer five years ago, ended the unbeaten Golovkin's streak of 23 knockouts in a row in a battle that went to the scorecards for the first time since 2008 for the Kazakh champion.

Respect to Jacobs. That was an awesome performance that completely caught me off guard. I did not expect his chin to hold up, at all.

There's no way Jacobs won, though. He neutralized Golovkin from knocking him out, but that doesn't win you championships. He survived and scored points, but Golovkin was comfortable all night and kept Jacobs at bay with his jab.

GGG's jab won him the fight.

Daniel you did better the expected, but come on.....you outweighted GGG and he still put you down, it was a close one though.

I have to agree. Danny won this fight. He made GGG look old, slow, and on his downhill. Confused him, tagged him, and dominated the ring. He controlled action, and limited GGG's offense. Even the knockdown was not concussive, and Jacobs won the rest of the round.

To say GGG was exposed is an understatement, he was beaten by the younger fresher better fighter, his entire resume is up for debate now, because Jacobs is not an A class fighter.

Canelo is, and GGG's level of competition disqualifies him as a potential PFP King.

In the court of public opinion, tonight was a loss, the hype train was derailed. GGG won the fight on the cards, but Jacobs won the drama of the fight as old man merchant use to say.

No, Danny. You didn't. You showed great heart, you fought the fight of your life, you did those flashy shoe-shines, you did well to finish the fight when you were clearly exhausted in the last 3 rounds.

But no, my friend. You didn't win the fight. You have a moral victory but not the victory of the fight based on the round-by-round scoring.
