I agree but Floyd got like $25 million in that fight. You're putting Canelo in a status that he's nowhere close to. He's no Oscar, Floyd or Manny. No where in the vicinity. He may be a superstar in today's boxing but not close to their level.

The gap between canelo and GGG is massive and you will see that again when Jacobs numbers come in and canelo chavez comes in. GGG is also not Floyd who won titles in multiple weights, undisputed p4p #1 with wins over hall of famers. And Floyd was already part of successful ppvs GGG hasnt. GGG has only 1 road to cross over star power and its fighting canelo. He's the clear B side and if he wants it he has to play his role. None of his belts matter in negotiations just like none of Floyd belts and accolades helped making a fight with oscar. If Floyd didn't agree to oscar demands would of gave the payday and opportunity to someone else. Same with Canelo. GGG has 15m on the table only a fool dycks around and talks about squeezing in a June fight for peanuts and risks the big fight GGG been looking for his entire career. Nothing is given to you if big fights are important then do what it takes to get them.

I think GGG is already one of the biggest stars in the sport internationally. I can't think of many other active fighter with more popularity internationally if you exclude Klitschko or perhaps Khan. Ggg's fights are aired in many different countries and even I got into boxing because of him, living in a country with no connection to boxing. Much of his networth is made from international $$$

The point of this thread is not to celebrate GGG celebrity status. The point is to educate short-sighted US fans who think that HBO PPV sales arer the only thing that matters in judging how much a fighter brings to the table.

Ummm...the bulk of the revenue comes from US PPV sales, so better believe it's the only thing that counts.
