Look who was sitting with De La Hoya!

Yes indeed people. There, right smack dab in the middle of Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and the Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya himself was none other than JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ.

Talking away to De La Hoya all the way through the Barrera-Juarez fight.

Marquez was touted to be facing Humberto Soto for the WBC interim championship at 126-pounds. However, his sudden presence there at ringside may indicate the possibility of him being the opponent for Barrera's December outing.

    BARRERA vs. MARQUEZ at 130-pounds.

If Golden Boy were simply in negotiations with Marquez to have him face one of their guys, he wouldn't have been ringside necessarily. The Marquez's just got signed up with Gary Shaw - apparently. But how solid is that commitment at this stage? Pacquiao picked up and dropped Shaw when he saw what he was like. Furthermore, the Marquez's just fell in and out with another promoter in less time than it takes Jennifer Lopez to get divorced and re-married.

    Opinions please people.

Yeah, I noticed him and Oscar sitting near eachother but I didnt pay enough attention to them to see if they were together or side by side.

My question is how does he get a fight with Soto, MAB, or anyone else? Didnt he just lose big to a nobody and had to result to throwing a bunch of low blows?

Yeah man he was sitting right next to Oscar and next to Schaefer, the two main men at Golden Boy. That's significant in my view.

People have made a case for Marquez in the Chris John fight, I can't comment because I have yet to see it. At the end of the day though, he's Marquez and it's not hard to imagine a fighter getting screwed in a foreign country; it happens all the time.

Even if you thought he lost to John, don't tell me you don't want to see Marquez in with Barrera still.

Look at the boxing politics with Judah-Baldomir and how Judah still ended up fighting Mayweather.

I didnt see the Marquez fight but I didnt hear much about it so I thought it was a fair decision.

As for Marquez, I use to be a big fan of his but I dont really care much for him anymore. I thought he wouldve put up a better showing against Pac and then he acted like he was scared of a rematch and kind of dissapeared like he didnt want to fight anyone. Now he's back in the picture? Thats why I see a differnce between him & Zab. Atleast Zab stayed in the picture. Marquez seemed like he got scared

Marquez told myself and Sergio Martinez on "The Scene" Audio Show (shameless plug) when he was our special guest that he was offered a good deal less than he should have been for the second Pacquiao fight. all told I think he would only have gotten 100 grand more which, if true, is ridiculous for a fight that size. I don't think Marquez got scared, but he definitely made some bad decisions after fighting Pacquiao and it has damaged his career to the point that if he does not get involved in a big fight soon, many people, such as yourself, will simply stop caring.

I dont think Marquez will fight Barrera i just think he might go to Golden Boy. He just left his old promotional group didnt he? So i think he is going to go to Golden Boy. Barrera vs Marquez would be a boring ass fight too if it happened. I want to see a Marquez-Pac rematch. or maybe Barrera vs Marquez and winner gets Pac.

I agree, from what ive read, alot of it seems to fall under his maneger/trainer, im not a big fan of JMM, but logic tells me hes not scared, just mismanaged.

i still belive JMM is one of the best in tha game. i can't speak on tha last fite, didnt watch it. but if he lost, shame on him. JMM i believe would beat barrera, him and Pac would be a dam good fight. he'd take out Juarez. hes an excellent counter puncher, with power. he doesn't throw wild punches neither, which helps him with his stamina.
