Sky has fewer fight night cards now than ever before, these extra dates could have been used to showcase superior fights.

I'm trying to think of how many shows they've had on Sky in the last years.
They get like 20 shows or so a year from Sky. Dont think thats less than before but dont know exact numbers.

The point is these cards are cheap as **** to make. They cant put on superior fights on these dates because that isnt what Sky are willing to pay for.

I'd be very very surprised if there were 20 sky shows (non ppv) last year, from start of Jan to end of December. Any sources for this? Because I'd be surprised if it was barely even 10.

This whole sky aren't willing to pay for better fights wasn't much of an issue before hearns monopoly on the channels. We've had this discussion before and I won't go over that again.

Personally I like these small hall shows on Friday nights and I'll be glad if we get more of them

The Richards vs Higgins fight was good fun, although the wrong man got the decision for me

Im just going by what i remember of the deal Sky signed with Matchroom a few years ago. Pretty sure it was 20 shows a year.

Im saying they arent willing to pay for more better fights, not that they arent paying for good fights at all. This is extra boxing, not sure how you can complain about that. Hearn has obviously showed them a way they can make a small hall show interesting to the public by branding it as a young prospects showcase.

We havent talked about this before so you are thinking of someone else there

Yeah i thought Higgins was the winner in a close one.

I enjoyed it aswell. Decent action throughout.

LOL you are remembering wrong. I can guarantee it. Look it up if you want.

What are you talking about Hearns making small hall shows more interesting? Small hall shows owuld be on Saturday Nights on Sky a lot mroe frequently than they have been in the last 2-3 years.

We saw Mitchell, Murray, Arthur, Macklin etc etc all fight at places like York Hall and in domestic grudge matches. I know some of these arent small hall shows that I've mentioned but my point is that there were A LOT more saturday night fight cards before Hearns monopoly. Itsj ust a fact. I'm not sure how old you are but if your in your id 20s now then you should know this.

We have discussed this exact thing before and you kept harking on about how Hearn had supposedly brought more boxing and higher quality boxing to SKy, which just isnt true. I wont go over it again tbh.

Im 90% sure that wasn't me you were talking to. At most i would have said Hearn brought boxing back to Sky when it looked as if they were moving away from the sport post Haye vs Harrison debacle (plus a few others).

There you go. I was **** on. 20 shows a year.

I dont know how many shows are being actually being shown because im not sad enough to count it up, nor do i know how many was being shown before.

Im saying that Hearn sold Sky a way of paying peanuts for a card and generating a small amount of interest in it by branding it as a prospects showcase. Its not included in the 20 shows a year that comes with the Sky/Matchroom deal and its a good way for young fighters to get exposure. Cant see why anyone would get so annoyed about the idea tbh.
