Comments Thread For: Jacobs' Trainer: 'Of Course' Golovkin Was Hurt By Kell Brook

NEW YORK Gennady Golovkin actually laughed when asked if any of Kell Brook's punches hurt him. Golovkin took more punches than usual when he boxed Brook six months ago, but the undefeated middleweight champion insists nothing Brook landed truly hurt him. Brook was especially effective in the second round, when the IBF welterweight champion most memorably connected with a left uppercut that snapped back Golovkin's head.

Golovkin let Brook hit him though. Doesn't count.

Lol seriously. Go to any boxing gym in the world & put a WW in with a MW (same level) & u will see ggg vs brook. A ww at the same level will always have a speed advantage and be able to hold their own BUT its always a matter of time. Khan & Brook both showed this in their MW fights.

I understand this is a trainer speaking trying to stir the pot and sell the fight though. But seriously if anyone really believes ggg was exposed or hurt at any point, I question the gym creds.

LOL, when I saw the 24/7 I couldn't believe GGG said that. He was clearly in a shell defensively when he got caught with the upper cut. Best part was when Jacobs said "if I catch him with those shots its a different story"

Can't wait man I am pumped.

Good thing for GGG that was a WW splitting his guard.

Any boxer can get hurt, and all of the great ones have been hurt! It is how the "hurt" fighter responds. Shane Mosely hurt Floyd, and then what happened? This is what makes GGG a different animal! He shook it off, and executed a strategy to defeat his opponent! Jacobs did the same vs. Mora! GGG is no "Mora." Jacobs needs to take this fight into the deep waters! He must go to the body early and counter effectively. He must survive the first 7, without taking too much punishment, and put "money in the bank" with body shots! Then from 8-12, he has to go for it! He can't depend on the judges to save him! GGG @ MSG, is not the same as Kovalev in Vegas!

& the ww left with a broken face. Now if Jacobs splits ggg guard things will be different but the approach from both will be different guys. And thats my point, theres a huge difference in approach when u fight a mw rather than a ww. Neither guys a bytch & knows the task at hand. Fight favors ggg but Jacobs is a very live dog!

People have mov ed up 2 divisions and hurt people. I'm sure PAC has hurt people divisions higher than flyweight?

                Is GGG Superman?

A WW should leave with a "broken face" against a MW.

Stevie Forbes gave Oscar the same injury...and he was the smaller guy,one that can't bust a g****.

Defense....if you don't use it you lose it.
It's the hardest thing to learn on boxing.

It's not something that can be turned on and off like a faucet.

GGG gets hit because he drops his punches to his waist....doesn't cover up well....and pulls-out with his hands BELOW his waist.

That's why he gets hit so much.

We'll see if Danny can replicate and build off of the positive moments Brook had vs GGG, but I doubt it...

even though Danny isn't as fast as Brook. Which is why I doubt it

Kigali, you put any coin down for the Miracle Man? You've been waving the Team Jacobs flag hard since fight was signed.
