  • Comments Thread For: Daniel Jacobs Lessons for Nathaniel

By Thomas Gerbasi - When you've been through what Daniel Jacobs has over the course of his 30 years on this Earth, nothing happens without a reason or lesson attached to it. In his world, there are no accidents. He didn't survive Brownsville by chance, conquering cancer wasn't luck, and when he faces Gennady Golovkin this Saturday, it's a metaphor for something bigger, something he can give to his eight-year-old son Nathaniel...

Jacobs is in for the fight of his life. Can he take GGG's punch?? We'll see. Will he be intimidated and fight a different fight than he should as so many have done before him? I believe this is the biggest obstacle for Jacobs. If he goes in here respecting GGG's power too much than he'll lose for sure but then again if he ignors it the same result can happen. It's going to be like walking a tightrope for jacobs and it should be a decent fight for the fans no matter who wins. Looking forward to Saturday night.

            March 8, 2017:

Danny Jacobs is Brooklyn born and raised, but Gennady Golovkin will be fighting at the Garden for the fifth time on March 18 when they meet for the middleweight championship. This could be a rare occasion when the crowd support for the foreigner is as vocal as it will be for the hometown product.

"To Nathaniel, he’s just dad, and when you’re a present father, it means everything to a child."

Jacobs sounds like a great guy and a great father. Wish him a good fight Saturday.

Why does this article sound like a eulogy for Danny?

The good old human interest dimension - that changes exactly nothing in the ring.

Determination and mental strength can get you so far but the body reacts involuntarily to certain physical stimuli. May the best guy win.
