Anyways it all doesnt matter since it was always the plan to have GGG fight in June in his homecountry. The World Expo 2017 is in Astana/Kazakhstan, starting on June 10th.

Even HBO flew over to Kazakhstan and filmed a GGG documentary there in preparation of his homecoming fight.
agreed. ggg cant keep delaying his career waiting on chicken**** ducknelo
    to finally fight him.

    • Hey dull time are you stupid or just delusional? 160 WBC belt for the title not 155 or 154 ok get it through your thick skull. The boxing world doesn't revolve around that duck you like to protect. By the way are you getting a cut from team Connello to protect him. You come out with some pathetic stuff to justify his ducking and blame GGG with the same broken record 154- 168 that take is so old now your grandma farts dust. You say G-man calls out welterweights when Eubank JR. lost his pen an Money May had 2 belts at 154 super-middle weight division. Like always leaving out facts to spew your biased hating agenda.

      • I asked a friend in Astana how big a deal it would be if he fought in Kazakhstan, answer was 'biggest night in Astana EVER'.

GGG is a national hero there, like Pac in the Philippines, so while we might think its not a big deal to go fight there, it would be a huge deal back home (Kazakstan sponsors their hockey team to the tune of $40m, there is money there).

If Saunders, the time zone works to pull in UK money too.

(and who knows, he might be thinking in terms of Senator Golovkin in the future.....)

Exactly I posted the exact same thing on the Martinez stating that Connello wouldnt fight GGG in 5 years thread. Then the delusional haters like Dull time twisted all up saying that Who is GGG why should Connello wait for him after he fights Billy Hoe in the homeland in June. But these same twats turn around and blame GGG for the fight not happening. When any unbiased boxing fan knows its Team Connello stalling this fight.

          • Haters don't want GGG to get the 5th belt from Billy Hoe in June because G man will have even more leverage in negotiations and that can't happen according to the Connello duck protecting patrol. They will have a hissy fit that their boy gets less money like their getting a piece of the action. Pathetic

As bad as folks want Alvarez Golovkin to happen..if it doesn't they aren't going to write Alvarez off.
If Canelo wants to avoid the fights where he is an underdog, he may navigate for several years and avoid real challenges. He will get paydays, because of pre-existing nationally oriented fanbase. He will not be the first doing this, as we know. But GGG should not build his calendar around the wishes of one opponent. There will be plenty of challenges: Charlo already generates decent interest. He just need to do his thing - fight, collect victories. With his lifestyle he may have good three years of being near the top of his physical shape. If GGG will collect the last remaining belt, and Canelo continues to avoid him, Canelo's reputation with impartial boxing fans will continue to decline. It is smart to pay to some posters to create "opinion" on these message boards, but ultimately it is a losing strategy. They can't defy common sense.

Had Jacobs only agreed to fight Golovkin until December 2017 while Golovkin remained inactive, you wouldn't consider that wasted time simply because Jacobs ultimately agreed? You need a lesson in opportunity cost.
He's gonna make more money on this Jacobs ppv than he would have for 2 regular HBO shows back to back, not to mention the resume boost.

                • Well it's not GBP's business who GGG wants to fight and when, but doesn't GGG need to rest after a June fight with presumably Saunders? What if it's a tough fight (which I doubt it)? So he's gonna fight Saunders then go sparring again and promote the biggest fight of his career? All in 3 months? It sounds a bit irresponsible on Loeffler's part. There's not much promotion taking place for GGG fights but GBP does more promotion and tours for their fights. It took 4 months for the Liam Smith fight, 6 months for the Cotto fight, and it's been 8 months since the Liam Smith fight for the Chavez Jr fight.

They're also not accounting for negotiations, from the sounds of it, GGG wants 50-50 or something like that. So how they say 3 months is enough to promote the fight when before promotion starts, there has to be an agreement on all specifics?

I think some posters are being irrational on questioning Eric Gomez for saying that more than 3 months is needed.

                  • If GGG fights in June, the fight would then need to happen in November-December.

He could have fought both in December and Jacobs this week with no problem.
