RJJ fans know their boy was crushed the second he stepped up against a strong fighter in Tarver and have been making excuses ever since May 15, 2004. It's pathetic that my 2nd favorite day in boxing history is marred by excuses.

Originally posted by loui_ludwigThey are all the same age, but u have to look at how long they been fighting at pro boxing.
Tarver, 1997-present, 9 years.
Roy Jones Jr., 1989-present 17 years
Glen Johnson, 1993-present 13 years
Bernard Hopkins, had 1 fight in 1988, then resume again in 1990, so 1990-present 16 years.
Its not the age of boxer, but the wear and tear of the length of their pro experience.
yeah tarver started boxing in 97 but was doing crack before that. So his body has seen wear and tear also. but he does look younger than the rest though. I think tarver is getting fustrated with the whole respect thing and just wants knockouts. but hopkins defense is too good for that IMO but I dont care really as long as one of them is knocked out.Comment

No ****, Roy Jones never got touched in almost a decade. His body had no wear and tear from fights, maybe from training, but not from fighting. Tarver was doing CRACK for Christ's sake. Jones got beat by a CRACKHEAD!!!

Tarver is strange, the reactions he gets. I mean, for me, its like when you are introduced to a stranger at a party and you instantly dislike them, you just do, with no reason other than a gut feeling.
As a boxer, he's sort of defined by a few fights, got started late, never really built up much of an inspired following before his mega-fights. He's in a strange circle of defenses, more big fights tied to Roy/Roy opponents and guys like Hopkins, rather than the less profitable but more respectable fights he could make in his division.
Yet, he talks big ****, like he deserves the same respect as someone like Mayweather or De Le Hoya, who made their names big by taking on all the notables in their division they could. I'd respect Tarver if he went on a two fight a year rampage against, say, six of the top ten guys in the light heavies, but not for fighting a blown up, ready to retire, Hopkins.Comment

Good Karma being sent your way!Originally posted by USA4LIFECall me a hater whatever I don't care I absolutly hate this man. It seems like everytime he fights he's bitching an moaning about something, respect this respect that blah blah blah. He should be thanking guys like RJJ and BHop for giving him a good payday instead of bitching about what side his face is shown on tv. I won't get the fight but I hope BHOP knocks his ass out.Comment
