I admire him for the simple fact that he overcame the drug's and turning pro late. I know he's not 'The Greatest' but I had never seen anybody do what he did to RJJ, and then he gave him another shot. He redeemed the 3 ppl that he lost to, he's well spoken and gives funny interview's. The bottom line I can't hate someone that has that much perseverence and drive and he's no bumm IMO, and is just talking because before he didn't get the attention so he's tryna sell himself so to speak.

here is something you might have not know Traver is nearly as same age as Roy Jones:Originally posted by Super_LightweightThere ya go.
Tarver kills old fighters. He would never beat either Roy or Hops had he ever had the chance to fight them in their primes.
Thread over.
Roy Jones- http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=001758
Tarver- http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=014043
Hopkins- http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=001414
Glen Johnson- http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=007361
so dont talks about Tarver beating old people, they are all nearly the same age as him, It just that he is stronger than them.
another thing if someone accepted the challenge then age, expernice and skill does not matter the fight is on.Last edited by eazy_mas; 05-21-2006, 08:15 AM.Comment

He's talking about ring age, man. Not all the time is a guy the chronologic age you think he is. Bernard Hopkins is a good example of that. He's 41, but his ring age is 30-34. Does him being the best defensive fighter in the world and not taking many clean blows have anything to do with it? Sure. But you get a guy who throws defense out the window, and while he might be 24 chronologically, if he went pro around age 19 and had 5-6 fights a year, and took punishment in each fight, it isn't too big of a stretch to say his ring age would be 34-35. Like Ray Mancini. Didn't fight for very long, but lots of fights in that short 5 year timespan. Lots of shots he took to the head, and in return he noticed dilapidation of his skills & hung em up.
The guy was talking about how Tarver has a younger ring age than Jones, which is 100% accurateComment

Yea playa that interview was crazy..Traver is a pure **** talker...I hate him but I love his ability to speak.."after all these years of making great decisions, you wait until now to make a dumb one"...the ***** can talk man..But he is right, no one like his punks ass because he is the legend killer...I hope B Hop win but I think it is very unlikely..Originally posted by USA4LIFECall me a hater whatever I don't care I absolutly hate this man. It seems like everytime he fights he's bitching an moaning about something, respect this respect that blah blah blah. He should be thanking guys like RJJ and BHop for giving him a good payday instead of bitching about what side his face is shown on tv. I won't get the fight but I hope BHOP knocks his ass out.Comment

I'm with you... I would enjoy this fight as long as someone gets knocked out. I feel like tarver will knock b-hop down... Bernard just is not used to the light heavyweight disivion... But however it goes I don't really care. I'm definitely not buying the fight.Originally posted by oliverltI'm not a fan of Hopkin's style, I hate Tarver, I'm really just hoping for a KO either way doesnt matter rather Hopkins do it though. but that **** was funny when he said it. Tarver always wants respect for what wanting to fight tyson, even if he beat hopkins what did he do but beat an old middleweight coming up 15 poundsComment

U mean over killing over da hill fighters.Originally posted by DiegoFuegoIf I was Tarver, I'd do exactly the same thing. I wouldn't show Jones or Hopkins any respect, and I would keep on killing legends. I know I'm one of few, but I love Tarver and everything he's done to boxing and for himself. He's a self-made kingpin who's on top of the boxing world right now. I've followed him since the second Harding fight and predicted him to beat Roy long before it happened.Comment

They are all the same age, but u have to look at how long they been fighting at pro boxing.
Tarver, 1997-present, 9 years.
Roy Jones Jr., 1989-present 17 years
Glen Johnson, 1993-present 13 years
Bernard Hopkins, had 1 fight in 1988, then resume again in 1990, so 1990-present 16 years.
Its not the age of boxer, but the wear and tear of the length of their pro experience.Comment

i have to agree with that. **** all RJJ nearly doubles tarvers pro experiance. RJJ said it best before their first fight tarver went into the olympics and beat up on teenagers. tarver did not call out RJJ until he started really talking about a HW title fight. come on he knew what he was doing. was it smart i guess it was. but i dont see how no one in the boxing world can see that. i mean come on. why does he want to fight tyson. tyson isnt even a legend anymore a win against him now is nothing. that will actually put a dent in your resume than put something good into it. i think my 11 year old cousin can beat tyson NOW. he goes after guys he knows he can get an advantage over. to say that when the fight is on it doesnt matter about the age or anything. actually yea it does. bc a REAL fighter is not going to sign a fight that he knows he cant win. a REAL fighter also never says he is done until he is just that done. is RJJ done?? alot of people think so. does he think he is. no bc he is fighting again july 29th. you see where i am coming from here?? tarver just came into pro boxing at the right time. when all the legends were on their way out. RJJ on the way out, Bhop on the way out. tyson been out. come on. you cant tell me tarver is the best out there. for being such a tough guy he sure does ***** and whine about everything come on now. who give a flying you know what about what side of the screen you are on. just talk about the fight and go change your diper.Comment
