I was worried about Stevens and his family. It must have been tough for Jacobs to see that. I know Stevens is controversial with his prefight antics. Don't know if he is boosting his confidence or just selling the fight. Anyway boxers have died in the ring. Hope he makes a full recovery. If you want to see some real brutality watch hockey. Some of the stuff that goes on is disgusting. Blind side hits to the head using the armoured shoulder at full speed. Personally I stopped watching hockey. Boxing has better inforcement the of the rules.

hockey is a blood-sport
they intentionally allow the game to resemble the wild west

No-one you know wants to see a brutal KO? How about commentators shouting "he was out before he hit the canvas"? They don't usually say that with a sombre tone, full of concern for the fallen boxer, do they?
Boxers saying early stoppage robbed them of a well deserved KO? Crowd booing for what they consider a premature stoppage?
Also, there's no clean line between 'watching a guy sustain far more punishment' and robbing a guy of a chance. Just watch Gatti-Ward or Corrales-Castillo I. Or take Magomed Abdusalamov fight - no-one thought the fight should have been stopped. There have been a few fights where a fighter would lose a decision then collapse in the dressing room, not to come back again.
I went through some soul searching to make peace with boxing myself - I watch boxing because I think it does more good than bad overall. But that's going to change as life gets better, and there will be a day when boxing won't provide a net benefit to humanity. So enjoy boxing while you can - but be honest about it. We are watching people getting hurt and we like it. Sure, we don't wish permanent damage on anyone - it's just that there's no way around it...
As you point out, nobody knows which boxer will die or be seriously injured. So any relative who goes to a fight should be aware of those risks. Parents love to see their children do well but doing badly in pro boxing carries all the inherent risks.
Violent KOs are a part of boxing. We have a choice how we choose to react to them. You sound like you want to control how I react to a KO. Why are you bothered by that?
The Charlo ko of J-Rock was a beautiful move, aesthetically pleasing and I admired the athleticism. I am honest enough to admit that seeing a fighter crumple to the floor adds to the spectacle although if that combo would have just stunned J-Rock then i'd still have admired it. Now if it was all down to an electronic tagging system as in fencing then I think 99% of us wouldn't be on these boards and as a result NSB and pro boxing would no longer exist. How many supporters does fencing have?

I'm sure he was devastated to see his friend lose in such a way but it's ridiculous to think this will somehow influence his upcoming fight. There was another brutal KO on SHOBOX the night before did that have him shook too? How about when Manny Pacquiao was near death in the Marquez fight? How far do we wanna go back to prove how he'll be shook on Saturday?
