You mean early 90s? So you only brought up one in the history of MW boxing?

Like I've been saying, MW has always been overrated.

OMG Lemieux is a goddamn beast!

I'd pick him over almost anybody at 160. He's definitely in the top 3.

would mentioning more have changed anything ?

it is easy to see that this middleweight era is very average

no, there were MUCH higher caliber fighters campaigning at middleweight back in the day..... in the 10 years from 85-95 you had guys like Hagler McCallum Barkley Jackson Benn Eubank McClellan Nunn James Toney RJJ, and a host of others.... as well as appearances from superstars like Leonard Hearns Duran

it was a MUCH better era

            and what about Robinson's era

Lemieux would not be top10 material back then, nobody would be calling him world-class compared to those bad boys

its not Golovkin's fault, a genuine defence record should still stand..... but defending the WBA interim title?

The WBA have promised to phase out their silly interim/regular titles, in favor of 1 champion..... so IF Golovkin beats Jacobs - and he likely will - the WBA interim title will cease to exist

the first 11-or-so defences Gennady made at 160 were for the WBA interim title, so in a couple of years when Golovkin " breaks " Hopkins record..... he will have done so by defending a title that no longer exists, and did not exist a few short years ago when Hopkins was fighting

            fkn lame

            read up on Charley Burley

Golovkin may break Hopkins record for world title defences, but Burley may have been a better fighter despite never even winning a title

            its not right man

the interim title only exists because of greed

fans/media are supporting greed/corruption simply because it is a cool-story-bro that benefits their favorite fighter

            its not right

That's very true and even though Lemieux is one of my top 5 favourites he does not belong in the ring with Canelo.
