Comments Thread For: Lemieux, Stevens Disagree on Jacobs' Chances Against Golovkin

NEW YORK Add their opinions on the Gennady Golovkin-Daniel Jacobs fight to the list of things David Lemieux and Curtis Stevens disagree on as their own fight nears. Stevens believes his fellow middleweight from Brooklyn has a chance against Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs), the heavily favored knockout artist from Kazakhstan. Lemieux can't envision Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) pulling off an upset in their HBO Pay-Per-View main event March 18 at Madison Square Garden, the same arena where Golovkin stopped Lemieux in the eighth round of their October 2015 fight.

At least Jacobs proved he has balls, unlike the red headed castrated diva who hides behind flat fee contracts.

''Golovkin has proved 15 million plus PPV is not prize fighting, and has also proved figthing a retired WW at 154 is more justified than having fought him at 155 in 2016, or 160 in 2017 with a lossed pen.'' - Brook

All this could've been avoided if a certain fellow hadn't given his belt away.

That logically doesn't make sense. These are active fighters. Abel and Gennady have said that canelo says gimme gimme thisss. What is Canelo asking for?

It was never about getting the belt. The belt and the mandatory position was all about leverage in negotiations.

Lemieux was dismissive wasn't he... If that's his attitude why even have the fight? I kinda agree with Stevens. Jacobs has a chance but it depends on his chin. It might sound crazy but Jacobs could succeed with the same approach Thurman used last week. He could try blitzing Golovkin in the first round to see how he reacts. If he can't get him outta there try boxing for the remainder of the fight. We know Golovkin can box also but if Jacobs can get him to box that's his best chance to win.
