“When we talk about these champions, legendary fighters, we talk about how they have 100 and something fights, 100 and something victories - but when you look at the history books I still beat more world champions than any fighter in history. I respect these fighters because these fighters are the fighters that paved the way for me to be where I’m at, but there’s no fighter in boxing that accomplished what I accomplished at all. You can go back as far as you want to go back," Mayweather said."
This argument of his really means nothing because he fought in an era where each division could have up to 5 different champions. In the days of Robinson and those guys there was 1 champion per division. If there were that many belts back in the old days, then Robinson and lots of those old all time greats would have beaten way more champions than him. Also the fact that there are 17 divisions now and there used to be 8. If there were 17 divisions with 5 belts per division when Henry Armstrong was fighting just think of how many champions he would have beat through 5-7 divisions.
