I was really looking forward to this fight and was about to come in here to bash Barrera like a keyboard warrior, but wtf, $62k for a top 10 LHW? There's taxes, trainer fees, promoter fees, what does he even take home? Like $5 dollars? LOL Kathy Duva did the same thing for Kovalev in the Hopkins fight. Kovalev fought for peanuts. It doesn't seem like Main Events treats their fighters very well financially.

In that case this fight shouldn't happen because there is no market demand for it. But that's the case with most eliminatiors. You basically fight for free in hopes of a future million dollar payday.

Put the money of Barrera in others fights, that's the interesting.

It's not so much the $62k but that purse would triple with a win and a shot at Stevenson or Kovalev. That's how boxing works.

But still...$62k for a fight between 2 top 10 guys. He won't see 50% of that purse when all fees/taxes are paid. The man has a family, he could be promised $150k for his next fight, it doesn't make $62k right. Who knows how much he got for Shabranskyy? $30k? Maybe he's tired of fighting for virtually free all for the selfish fans entertainment who would say no if they were in his shoes too.
