This is actually a dangerous fight for GGG. More dangerous than Canelo.

This fight will hinge on GGG's defense. The lapses he has shown against Brook and others could put him in trouble with a guy who has KO power in both hands and, unlike Lemieux, can actually box a bit and throw more compact, straight and pinpoint punches. Jacobs also will have a distinct height and reach advantage that will maximize his threat at range. I think Jacobs has the power to hurt and even stop GGG if he can land his best shots.

If GGG comes in with a tight defense and emphasizes sound boxing technique, applying cautious pressure, I expect he will be able to take Jacobs out without too much trouble. I suspect it may take more than a few rounds because he will have to be very disciplined out of respect for Jacobs, but he has the tools to win cleanly.

GGG actually could lose this fight if his aggression is not measured and he shows some defensive lapses. The GGG we saw against Brook would have some problems here. GGG is a smart fighter though, and I think he will apply the right gameplan. Golovkin by late stoppage.

Maybe the whole weight thing will help Jacobs go the distance. Here's to hoping for the sake of betting but I hope he ends up flat on his back.
