8th post of this thread.Because Mayweather never ducked Margarito.
He went to his promoter at the time, Arum, and asked for 3 fights in addition to 'Cheato:
The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. What Arum wouldn't do, he said, was raise the guarantees for other fights outlined in the contract.
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Only the ignorant, or fanboy haters continue to say Mayweather ducked Margarito...
Completely refuting the premise of the OP.
Yet, here we are 4 pages in.
Some folks like to point to the youtube of 'Cheato "cornering" Floyd.
That is a completely fanboy characterization of what happened.
Floyd explained to Antonio that all he had to do is keep winning and not only would the fight happen but it would be bigger money for him.
Of course, 'Cheato went out and lost.
When these folks say Floyd ducked PlasterManos I wonder when exactly was he supposed to fight him?
What fight should Floyd have taken off his resume to fight Antonio instead?
Which fight would a Margarito fight be bigger money than, especially keeping in mind that Antonio was promoted by Arum, who Floyd really did not like dealing with at all and who would certainly seek to cut into what Floyd could earn fighting other more lucrative fights.
Fact is, Cheato was poised for a shot and got worked by PWill in '07.
Then, with rumours already out there that Floyd was coming back he definitely would have been in line if he beat Mosley in early '09.
He got mollywhopped by Sugar.
And while triangle theories are at best only half right, it is quite noteworthy that Shane's next fight (albeit with a 16 month layoff) was against Floyd.
There are only two fighters Floyd ducked when the fights were available and made financial sense.
Margs is not one of them.Last edited by koolkc107; 03-09-2017, 06:15 PM.Comment

im thinking thats what margie fans have created to deal with why he never got his chance with may. i always say, if margie was so great, he should have had ww locked up. made sure all roads go through him. that was never the case and there was no conspiracy to lock him out.
tell me, if he wasnt mexican , would you still be a fan of his ?Comment
