regarding the buyout option, this statement from the espn article:

However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked.

From this, I gather a Margarito fight was a viable option, and the buyout @ 750,000 was still on the table.

But All your points make sense and your proof matches up, much respect
In hindsight how do we know Floyd would not have done the same or worse to Margarito?

I get your point and technically you are right, Arum did say he was open to an extension of the buyout window.

I just don't know if that also meant he gets the one fight at the same money that Arum is offering him to sign the extension.

The article also talks about Floyd not being ready for an August date (he did not fight again until November that year) and you can bet that it was the DLH fight he wanted first.

Yes, Floyd boxed rings around Baldy but there is no doubt in my mind that it was the fight to take over a Margs fight.

Baldomir had a better resume, was holding the lineal, and had not lost for 8 years. Cheato had only one real name on his ledger and a loss a year and a half earlier.

And it was the same 8M with nothing to split with Arum.

    A no brainer, really.

I am not really interested in the logical fallacies you are trying to present as legit rebuttals. What happened with Floyd and Canelo has no bearing on what happened with Floyd and Antonio and it isnt my concern what other Mayweather fans said or didn't say about an unrelated topic.

Certain fans butthurt that Floyd never took an L attempt to console themselves by trying to invent boogeymen and imaginary losses that never happened, nor would happen in reality if the fights actually came off.

They ignore the simple truth staring them in the eye.

          I just proved that:

          A) Floyd had NO problem fighting Cheato- a fact provided by Arum of all people.

          and

          B) He would have lost 36M by actually signing the contract with Arum that included a Margarito fight.

What part of that escapes folks?

How ****** do you have to be not to realize money and calling his own shots motivated Floyd, not any fear of any fighter?

Arum wasn't even going to try and make the fight with DLH, which everyone knew was the biggest fight out there.

Why would Floyd stay and let his biggest potential paycheck go up in smoke?

Why would he stay and continue to let Arum shortchange him?

58 million dollars in a little over a year after leaving Arum and you are saying it was fear?

          OK, if you think so...
Funny that you say that all this is about is Floyd DUCKING Margarito but then bring up all that other stuff which could have potentially gone bust SINCE NONE OF THAT WAS GUARANTEED!!! HELLO???

Here is what happened. So Floyd could have fought Margarito and still done everything that followed.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."

"The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. "

So Floyd could have fought Margarito then do what he did BUT HE DID NOT. HE DUCKED MARGARITO!!!

Saved his Career and health by not fighting a CHEATER. Became the face of boxing and has millions of dollars. Great choice by Floyd not to get in the ring with cement hands cheato.

Keep it real. If this was any other fighter, what would the perception be.

That is not the point of this thread though. Floyd had no idea at the time and we do not know if Margarito had done it more than once but I would think he had.

Actually I remember a video with Floyd being interviewed about Margarito. He basically said that he knew that he should have not fought Margarito because he thought that Margarito was a cheater (something wrong about him) .... So he basically used what he really didn't know as an excuse for DUCKING Margarito.

BTW - I'm more of a Cotto fan .... but Floyd still DUCKED Margarito.

Not sure why people keep bringing up a fight that never happened ten years ago. This would've been far from a super fight and I can't imagine Margarito would've had much of a chance anyway. Its a dead horse that people keep bringing back to life and beating to death again.

Floyd rarely if ever, fought guys with a height + reach advantage, i.e. true size advantage.
