  • Comments Thread For: Davies Blames Mayweather For Their 'Heated' Confrontations

In the last two days, rising junior welterweight prospect Ohara Davies (15-0, 12 KOs) of the UK was involved in a series of "heated" altercations with retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather has been touring the UK since last week, and also held a press conference on Tuesday with promoter Frank Warren - to announce a May 20th fight between IBF lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and mandatory challenger Liam Walsh.

This is why top fighters will not sign with TMT! Floyd needs to understand the difference in being a fighter & promoter. I must say, the video I seen was two guys disagreeing with each other, talking loud but didn't seem to look like something was about to pop off! You can tell Floyd was getting a little annoyed as he started screaming & pointing his fingers aggressively. Young fighters & veteran fighters pay attention to things like this. You can't expect to get fighters to sign with you based on flashing your wealth which shows its all about you. As a promoter, Floyd needs to show them its all about the fighter. You can't discredit a young fighter accomplishments like that, especially in public.

True... Floyd is making some good fights, has some good fighters and has the money to put on some good shows...

But he really needs to take a back seat, he must realize it's not all about him anymore it's about "his" fighters, I can see him being worse than Eddie Hearn in front of the cameras trying to jump in front of the fighters for a picture

Youre looking at it at a nerd perspective. This guy followed Floyd then proceeded to follow him to his car and somehow Floyd's in the wrong lol. Fighters will look at this and see how Floyd defends his fighter. He was defending Gervonta.

What the hell is a nerd perspective? Floyd Mayweather is an egomaniac and signing with him means you will have to cater to his ego all the time and act as if you are his friend even if you don't like him as a person. Mayweather is the type of guy that will take offense if you don't laugh at his jokes or remind him that he is the GOAT. If I was a fighter I would not sign with Mayweather Promotions, I would rather sign with a promoter that I can trust and respect and have a business relationship with, not someone who requires me to be a friend/cheerleader in order to do business.
