Comments Thread For: David Haye Aims To Fight in 6 To 9 Months, Wants Bellew Rematch

David Haye has called on Tony Bellew not to retire so they can meet for a second time in a repeat of their heavyweight contest after the first bout ended with a stoppage in favour of the Liverpool fighter. Haye, who suffered a torn Achilles and was forced out of the O2 Arena fight when his corner threw in the towel in the 11th round, believes he will be back in action in six to nine months.

Big athletes like Kobe Bryant who train year round and don't take 5 year layoffs, bub. Please don't put yourself in that category. His passion for the sport was matched by few. Haye's passion for boxing--from what I can tell, is pretty much just cosmetic and ego. The buildup to the first fight with Bellew was exciting, but I don't think anyone wants to see it again. If by some miracle Haye can fight again, he should match a heavyweight. Not a blown up cruiserweight. It looks like Wilder's people are trying to make another one of his perplexing fights with Bellew anyway.

Tony should retire in this position .I called the fight very wrong I didn't think Bellew would hear the bell for the third.I think that Haye knows his limits and this is why he has chosen easy opponents on his comeback.Haye should be made to fight contenders if he wants a title shot but on that performance he hasn't got a prayer .

Tony shouldn't retire as then hate would be right in saying he retired Ruiz, valuev and many others!
But tony is not a sift tiotiouch at heavyweight. Cruisers go on to be great heavys. Get used to that fact. Its a regular occurance. Not always mind. But often.

Haye interview on Sky. He admits he went to his doctor but won't say why apart from that it wasn't the achilles.

Too much money to be made Bellew would be foolish not to take the rematch, we are talking millions, life changing money, double what Bellew made on Saturday

Rematch will happen if Haye does recover

Haye is just being humble, i respect him for making no excuses

but he knows the truth, visiting an Achilles specialist is no coincidence

Get well champ.... He showed a bunch of heart in that fight. No doubt he can compete with the Wilders and the Parkers of the division. If it wasnt for the torn achillies tendon, it would have been a ud

A lot of credit to Haye for all the heart and courage he showed. And even to Bellew, for fighting well with a broken or injured right hand. I give them both a lof of praise, even though they are not the best two heavyweights around but a nice fight, altho the achilles injury obviously had a huge impact on the outcome.
