IF AJ get's stopped then everyone will question the matchmaking.
Had AJ fought Ruiz and Takam and knocked them out with ease, how many people would give him credit? Fans would just complain and claim that both Ruiz and Takam weren't that good in the first place.

Parker & Ruiz have sparred together, which is why they knew it would be a tough fight. Ruiz, despite appearances is very capable, quick, and a hard puncher.

The lure of the Belt outweighed the risk and if he lost, at 24 (at the time), he could learn & come back.

Always happens to boxers as AJ said, if you lose, your a bum, if you win, the opponent was no good, too old, carrying some sort of XYZ injury, or in sad decline...

        It's impossible to please everybody.

Yeah because he KO'd some can's it automatically means he would KO takam and ruiz.

          Socrates would be proud pal.

No they wouldnt everyone knows Takam and Ruiz are the real deal. AJ ducked Takam for a reason.

Same old argument from the casuals trying to justify AJ's pathetic resume and belt Eddy bought him.

People give someone like Ruiz a lot of props now because of his performance against Parker, now he's all of a sudden this dangerous fighter. Ruiz had fought a lot of cans before he took the Parker fight so he was untested and Ruiz looked quite sluggish and awful against a very limited Franklin Lawrence right before the Parker match-up.

My point is if it was AJ who took on Ruiz last year and knocked him out early with ease nobody would give him any credit. Ruiz would be consider a can. A man who had never fought anyone and who had struggled with C-level fighters. AJ better step up in class.

How did you know that Ruiz was the real deal before he took on Parker? Who had he fought that made you so sure? Yes, he's talented but you have to step up in class before you know whether someone is the real deal or not and Ruiz had nobody on his record and he didn't even look very impressive against several of his opponents. He couldn't even finish a slow out of shape has been like Siarhei Liakhovich.

Not really. You just need to look at any independently ranked heavy weight list, to know AJ’s opponents have all been tomato cans.

fastest hands in the division, great chin and decent power...

The big problem here is...Kevin Barry's abilities as a trainer in being able to take Parker to the next level, i think they have plateaued as a pair.

Just look at the advice he was giving Izu in the recent breazeale fight.

The total opposite of what Izu needed to hear.
He only moved to Vegas recently.

Some of the guys he fought recently are the type of guys you would normally keep him away from at this point in his career. Shows how much confidence they have in him.

Takam and Ruiz are far more advanced technically, and far more accurate and experienced. Parker showed real grit beating those guys.

A fighter with parkers ability with lesser grit would of lost to those guys.

Agree - I think Parker has outgrown Barry. Would be amazing for him to get benefit of another top trainer. Unfortunately I dont think Barry will let him go anywhere else.
