Thurman won clearly, I was high on Trinidad then but IMO, he lost against DLH!
Do you think Garcia should have won?

So you guys are saying the judges did it right this time and not the other away around. It makes sense and like I said I'm not dis*****g the fight results but the judges are seeing stuff obviously that were not and maybe they are seeing money in their pockets . We saw Garcia rob Herrera and oscar rob Whitaker so I guess karma finally caught up with them.Comment

No, Oscar was robbed! He won that fight everyone with a brain knows it. He was more dominant before he shut it down then Thurman was. Just because the judges screwed over Oscar don't mean they should of done the same with thurman. Both Oscar and Thurman put on a boxing lesson won enough rounds and gave away rounds late that shouldn't of had any impact on the decision if you score the fight right or there is no corruption.
For a numbers comparison Oscar/Tito is literally one of alltime worst decisions since compubox started tracking stats. Only 5 fights in history featured a fighter outlanding his opponents by more punches and NOT getting the decision.
Total Punches landed
Thurman 147 26%
Garcia 130 30%
Total Power punches landed
Thurman 102
Garcia 89
Total Punches landed
Oscar 263 41%
Tito 166 36%
Total Power punches landed
Oscar 124
Tito 116Last edited by bigdunny1; 03-06-2017, 01:02 PM.Comment

Don King paid off the refs it's as simple as that. Before Oscar shut it down 1 of the 3 refs had the fight DEAD even heading into the 10th round despite Oscar doubling Trinidad up in EVERY statistical category. This judge had Trinidad up even BEFORE the 12th and gave the 12th to Oscar despite him running and intentionally giving this round away. He gave the round to Oscar to try and make his score look closer and less corrupt otherwise he would of scored the fight 116 to 112 for Trinidad. Think about that for a second. Oscar needed to knock Trinidad out this fight to avoid getting robbed.I'm not not dis*****g the win for Thurman. I'm saying the fight was weak. And comparing it to oscar and Trinidad but the opposite results on both fights one fight the runner loses and second fight runner wins. When clearly oscar did more that Thurman did and still lost. I guess my issue is more what the judges are seeing and I know the politics in boxing are pretty high.Last edited by bigdunny1; 03-06-2017, 12:58 PM.Comment

Danny absolutely should not have won and the judges(at least two of the three) got it right.Let me be more specific. Oscar delahoya did more to Trinidad than Thurman did to Garcia and delahoya pulled the same crap by running last few rounds and they have it to Trinidad. Garcia seemed more aggressor and was pushing forward like Trinidad and Thurman wasn't as active as oscar was. So what's the difference. I personally think Thurman was afraid of Danny's power as oscar might have been afraid of trinidads power. Both of these fights have many parallels and were really not great fights. I think there should be a rematch. Only because a lot of questions were not answered.
And Oscar absolutely should have won his fight with Trinidad. After 9 rounds I had Oscar up 8-1 so as long as he stayed on his feet and didn't get dropped or KO'd he should have rightfully won.
There is many similarities in both fights. I had Thurman up 7-2 after 9 rounds and he was able to coast and essentially give up the last 3 rounds and still get the win.
In both fights though I just hate how they got content with their leads and got on their bike and ran away from danger. Luckily it didn't bite Thurman in the ass like it did Oscar but I just wish both fighters would have finished the fight strong and try and put an explanation point to their victories. They could have still boxed and be aggressive but still be cautious with the incoming punches.
I'm a huge proponent with fighters closing the show strong. With Thurman and De La Hoya's fights they didn't finish strong and left an Ah *** kind of feeling once the fight was over.
But to the question of do I think Garcia should have won. I say an emphatic HELL NO.Comment

He made the fight closer than what I thought it'd end up being. That also had to do with Thurman not engaging as much in the last quarter of the fight. Danny's a really good fighter. People hate him because they hate his dad. It was a close fight. I'm not sure about 7-2 after 9 or so but I liked the change of styles and pace from both fighters.
Thurman won the fight and rightfully so.Comment

Fights are scored on a round-by-round basis. You can't say someone should've won because of the totality of the action. And unless there was a knockdown or a thrashing in a specific round, they're all scored 10-9. Lot of people just don't seem to get this.
Garcia won maybe two rounds from 1-10, in my opinion. If you give him the two rounds Keith took off, that makes it 8-4 (116-112), Thurman. One of the judges scored it just like this, another had it 115-113, which is fine. The guy that had it for Danny is what's wrong with boxing.Comment

No. Really easy fight to score. 8-4 or 7-5 Thurman. I didn't like that he coasted to victory but he was way ahead on the cardsComment

I think Oscar won that fight but got shafted by the judges.
Thurman beat Garcia comfortably.
I think Thurman's plan was to start strong, get respect from Garcia with his power, and build a lead. Once he knew he was ahead, he went on his back foot but remained active enough to win at least half the rounds during the second half. This tactic worked because as a strong counter-puncher, Danny's output would then be constrained. He's not a great pressure fighter. He prefers a fighter coming to him. This made the latter rounds less exciting but it secured a clear win for Thurman.Comment
