If Jacobs honestly earns it, I think he'll be fine. It's easy to get behind his story. I don't see it happening, but in the event, I think the judges will do it right.
If the fight goes 12 rds can Jacobs get a fair decision on HBO at MSG?

The unwritten rules of boxing:
1-) Head punches score better than body punches.
2-) Smiling or smirking after getting caught indicates to the judges that you WERE hit clean, that you are hurt, or both.
3-) Initial rounds fought hesitantly are toss-ups since there is no clear pattern established.
4-) Undefeated fighters get the benefit of the doubt in close fights, unless there is an exception (see item a).
a-) There is a marketable fighter being groomed for superstardom. Marketable fighters get the benefit of the doubt over purely undefeated fighters, unless there is an exception to this (see item ai).
ai-) A fighter that is both marketable and undefeated will get the benefit of the doubt over someone who is only marketable, or undefeated, or neither. If neither, there is an exception where the hometown hero retains the benefit of the doubt.Comment

Yes, I'm sure you can prove it. *sarcasm*
As much as I love boxing, it is a HIGHLY subjective sport where individuals sometimes see things that aren't there, or that they want to see and influences their scoring (in close fights).
The term "robbery" has been so overused that it doesn't mean anything anymore. Every close fight is called a robbery. Marquez-Pacquiao, Ward-Kovalev, Leonard-Hagler...etc, etc, etc.
There's criteria for scoring but it cracks as soon as a fight becomes competitive.
Embrace it, it's a sport with a spectacle flair like wrestling. The only differences is that instead of grapples, there's punching. And instead of a script and performing, fighters do go in there to intentionally hurt each other to win actual titles. Although these days, even titles are becoming a nuisance and nothing more than a bargaining chip.Comment

Golovkin has a lot of money behind him in that Canelo showdown being built up...and Canelo is also an HBO fighter. In all likelihood Jacobs needs to either KO, TKO, or win VERY convincingly to get the decision.
The judges will be taken care off by HBO to pad GGG's cards should he need itComment
