Comments Thread For: Lee Selby Excited To Move Forward With Haymon as Free Agent

IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby is very excited about his free agent status. After eleven months of inactivity, he saw action on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London with a stoppage win over Adoni Gago in a non-title contest. The bout was part of the David Haye vs. Tony Bellew undercard.

Russell isn't doing anything. He's free and not much to choose between him and Carl. Carl is just more active.

DeGale is also a free agent. The fight against Jack was his last fight with Matchroom

I don't think Hearn is trying to get rid of the Haymon guys, more likely just that both Selby and DeGale don't see the point in a contract with Hearn while Haymon is the one offering them the bigger fights/paydays. For Selby I guess he doesn't want/can't get the Quigg fight and Hearn has no one else to offer. Whereas with DeGale I get the impression Hearn has more options for his next 2-3 fights and JDG will just hop between the UK with Hearn and the US with Haymon for his fights depending on where the money is.

Bunce was talking up Selby and downplaying Frampton a little while ago which made me think that Selby might be heading to Warren for a Warrington fight

Maybe Mares in the USA and then Warrington in the UK later on in the year

As bad as everyone thinks Floyd is, Floyd is ruthless in his approach. Floyd's like, We WILL make some money, or you can go away. This is what Selby needs. Haymon will put him on the shelf, like Pedraza, or get him mangled in the P.I. for 25 grand, like Arroyo. Selby is as good as he'll ever be, he needs to strike while the iron is hot.
