They fought in NY and danny is a puerto rican from philly.

Thurman is a mixed dude from clearwater, florida, who was beating their guy. What do you expect.

I didn't like the crowd booing every time these guys had a lull in the action. These were the top champs in the division putting their undefeated records on the line and the crowd was booing because they didn't just go in reckless looking for the KO. I felt it was disrespectful to both fighters.
I think this attitude is why we keep getting garbage fights.

I'm not saying the Thurman-Garcia fight was garbage. It was good in spurts and I really liked the start. Thurman's flat out running the last two rounds was very discouraging, especially for a title unification fight of undefeated guys.

However, to say it's disrespectful for the fans to boo? I can't go along with that. If the fans are not happy, they should boo. The customer is always right. Without them putting down their money for the ticket, there is no fight. So, no. They can boo whenever they want and cheer whenever they want and no. It's not rude, ever.

Besides, why should fans cheer for the running Thurman in the last two rounds? That was a joke.

If they just booed the last two rounds I would get it, but they were booing in round 3 when both guys were looking to get their stuff in.
When I say its disrespectful its because i don't know what the crowd was expecting. Thurman has power but neither of these guys are all action fighters. If they thought they were getting Pacquiao/Marquez or Rios/Alvarado when they bought their ticket they were setting themselves up for disappointment. I think its a case where the crowd was made up of a lot of people that don't normally watch boxing.
Its like me buying a ticket for the new Logan movie and then booing because there was not more action. i knew what I was getting into when I paid money for the ticket.
I though overall it was a good technical fight and it was what i was expecting from these guys.

Well you've watched these guys and knew what to expect and you're right. It turned out about how you would expect, given their past fights.

However, a fight is a fight. The crowd is never going to be made up solely of people who understand this. A tactical chess match is always going to be boring to fans who don't know better, and let's be honest. Sometimes they're boring period. I get that each guy is trying to set traps and find a way to land without getting hit and trying to time the other guy and all, but it does not make for good entertainment, which is what everyone shows up for.

I don't follow football very closely, but I liked the Superbowl game because it was close and competitive. This fight was closer than I think a lot of fans on here want to admit, but either way, it was interesting because it was close all the way. However, more action would have made it better and Garcia showed at times he could cut off the ring and go to the body which rattled Thurman. Only, he didn't do it enough. Thurman also backed off the gas pedal way too often. People want action. While fighters are feinting and moving and thinking in the ring, the crowd sees one thing- no punches being thrown. You really can't blame them. If punches are flying, things are happening, even if they're missing. Deontay Wilder to me, is sloppy as hell, but he does throw punches and things tend to happen when he does. That's action and Thurman-Garcia didn't provided enough action. I mean, they don't give tickets away. When you pay for it, you want entertainment.

I do get what you're saying and anyone who knows how they fight wouldn't have booed anyway. But every crowd is different. They wanted more action.

the booing was odd, being so early in the fight. Usually you only see that when there are alot of comps and its not really "fight" people who are there. I dont believe there were THAT many comps last night ........

Florida only works for a stay busy fight. Like Thurman/Collazo. You can't have a big fight like yesterday's in Florida, not a big fight feel.

Vegas is a tough sell for anyone not named Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Canelo.

This is why american style bias has ruined boxings chance of being mainstream...both guys have developed a take no risks, just get the win or try to not get beat up mindset.

Ima huge boxing fan but in big fights I like to ask my casual fan buddies what they thought of the fight . It gives me an idea how most people who don't Follow boxing saw it . All I kept hearing was " boring fight" , " one guy moved too much and the other didn't throw punches . Now before I get all the typical UDKSAB from NSB . I'm speaking on the fights appeal to the casuals who might not appreciate the sweet science like us fans . Because that's who it was put on CBS for , to try to bring in new viewers to the sport . Unfortunately IMO last night's fight didn't help .
                    It definitely failed to deliver.
