I don't think Joshua's is STACKED, but he took on a chance to get a belt and did it. He's had 18 fights. Are you seriously telling me that - especially including his next opponent - hsi resume isn't significantly better than Wilder's right now?
How can anyone have a decent resume at HW? where are these top HW fighters?

Look at Wlads resume and the jokers he was fighting.

    • Hats off to Haye. never been a big fan but he showed a lot of heart, fighting through a leg injury. If you can't use all of your lower leverage to throw a punch or move away from one you are bound to get caught eventually.

      • I still believe that David Haye will retire as world champion, this defeat seems to have awoken the eye of the tiger within him once again! this is like Rocky 3, all we need now is Adam Booth or Audley Harrison to train David Haye for his comeback.....

        • Ahh I'm just glad this is done. Seriously hope Bellew doesn't try to move up permanently- he is definitely not a HW! He was starting to really achieve things at CW before this ****** pantomime started so I hope he keeps going at that weight.

At least this was a professional fight- Haye hadn't actually had a real one since his "retirement". But it was still nothing more than a money making project- everyone knows why and that's why all the "Bad Blood" was so "real"....Yet again with one of these 'out of nowhere' fights. I really want all that stuff to stop, the lead up was embarrassing: acting exactly like it was a wrestling event with a 'plot' because like the wrestling stuff it had no real sporting integrity to it. If Eddie Hearn runs another of these "Definitely real grudge" fights then people should boycott him- it's condescending, cynical and an insult to the sport.

We saw what happened- Shannon Briggs was being lined up with the little "grudge" starting very publicly to try and sell what would've been a fight with even less sporting worth but then Bellew became a possibility as he wanted to have a go at HW and that one obviously had more profit potential in it.

It's a shame, Haye was a fantastic CW and could've been better at Heavy and Bellew is finally where he always wanted to be. I actually like them both when they're not putting on the act.

In terms of the actual fight....It was better than I thought it would be. It went pretty similarly to how I thought it would, with Haye looking for the knockout from the bell and Bellew counter punching cautiously. I still can't decide on the knock down when Haye is knocked through the ropes- obviously he gets caught pretty flush with that last shot but it looks like his right foot actually slips and it's that which sends him through the ropes.

I also wondered about when Haye tried to get back in the ring as quickly as possible after what we all saw a few weeks ago with the Hopkins fight and everyone learning the rule about getting back in on time. Maybe he thought of that?

Bellew talked about AJ in the interview after but that's a long way off. I really, really hope he doesn't try to step up to heavy and I seriously hope he's not considering that level of HW. He looks so much more comfortable at CW, even though some people think he gains weight too much/ too easily I don't think it would be right for him.

It's funny how Haye looked all ripped and muscular while Tony looked like a cab driver yet knocked him out cold...proves again, muscles mean ****
Nobody knocked anyone out cold. In fact, nobody knocked anyone out full stop. Even when Haye went through the ropes Bellew managed to miss every shot, pretty much like he did all fight

Come on, be SERIOUS. Don't accuse people of swerving Wilder when the guy has built his entire career on cans.
Is it any coincidence that Joshuas next opponent, is a gun shy, glass chinned past his prime old man?

It's the usual UK hype fix. When Joshua stops Wlad (and I hope and pray Wlad just lands one right hand bomb) the Hearn clan and sky TV will reach unprecedented levels of jingoism and group ************

                • Once again fair-play to Toney Bellew, for exposing David Haye's lifestyle and attitude towards training! ultimately David Haye should of blasted out Toney Bellew within 5 rounds! but he was unable to do this, because in his training camp was sub-optimal! (He was physically fit, and in great condition? but he had not trained for a fight! long gone of the days, when Adam Booth would have a life sized cut out of his opponent's constantly reminding Haye of his challenge! (The Hayemaker has gone soft! and he has needed this defeat to WAKE him up! This is like Rocky 3, David Haye these past few years became civilized.....

But again, Haye can take positives from this fight! he was evading a Toney Bellew's offense even on one leg! and he was also taking some serious power shots from, one of the most destructive punches in the cruiser-weight division! (David Haye has proven to himself, that he is allot more durable and tough than people have given him credit for!)...

I think Haye from this point onward, should divert his attention rebuilding his public persona! (Hardcore boxing fans, have always respected Haye! but its the general public that fell out of love with him! but since his performance up against Tony Bellew, people are starting to endear to him once again!)........

What David Haye needs to do now is have afew marketable exciting fights, such as fights up against Shannon Briggs, Lucas Browne (Put it on DAVE or BOXNATION/BT and rebuild the Hayemaker brand once again!)...

                  • PRINCEKOOL - Right, because a fight against Shannon Briggs would get him loads of respect......

You sound like you're talking about a cereal company who've had something found in one of their boxes! "Rebuild his brand" etc. - this is sport not marketing.

The public wants exciting fights! the sport of a boxing needs, exciting match ups with a story and theme! David Haye is one of the very few heavyweights that understand this concept! that is why his last fight gain more attention, and was more lucrative than 99.9% of the heavyweight fights out there! Fighting Shannon Briggs, is a fight with a story and a theme! (I think it is a great fight for David Haye!)...
