At the championship and top contender level Porter is usually a winner and Berto is usually a loser. Porter has a much better record with only 2 very close loses to Brook and Thurman. Berto has lost to guys who could never beat Porter. Berto doesn't do well against a high volume puncher who attacks him hard and constantly at close range. He can't handle the pressure Porter will put on him. Like Broner his main defense will be a bear hug clinch. Berto isn't as tough as Broner. Porter will beat him and probably knock him out.

NEW YORK Another welterweight fight at Barclays Center will be officially announced Saturday, a few hours before a better, bigger welterweight showdown takes place at the Brooklyn venue. Showtime will televise Berto-Porter, a 12-round fight that took several months to get made.

why is Porter taking such a step back? Facing Broner was seen as a monetary move, fair neough but Berto?
Porter is going to win every damn round.Comment

porter cherrypicking a bit still going to get hurt at least once in the fight...
barthelemy will be on this undercard vs the relich guy who beat ricky burns. winner will fight for the IBF 140lb titleComment

I don't think it's a cherry pick. Porter isn't some A type fighter. He receives too much credit and praise but hasn't really beaten any legit contender at 147. His biggest win is Alexander and Broner who is too small for 147. Porter is the same guy who barely beat Julio Diaz and lost to Brook and Thurman. Broner put him down and I'm sure if he gets reckless Berto will too.Comment

How so? Isn't Indongo unifying with Burns the IBO, IBF, & WBA?* never mind, misread it. I still think a unification with Crawford takes precedence over mandatory.
As for this fight, it's a disappointment. Not sure why Porter took a year off and now fights this bum. Could've fought 3 Berto-caliber fighters in the time he took off.Comment

This is a great fight when you look at it in context. I've been excited ever since it's been floated. I like the new Berto it's like the penny has dropped but Shawn & his work ethic is second to none.Comment
