Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman: My Ultimate Goal is To Unify The Division

Undefeated champions Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia risk their welterweight crowns on Saturday in a showdown that could launch the winner to stardom worthy of Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao. Saturday's matchup of unbeaten 28-year-old Americans at Brooklyn's Barclays Center is only the third unification bout between unbeaten welterweight champions, the first since Oscar de la Hoya faced Felix Trinidad in 1999.

This fight will decide which of them is in the top 3 of the division. It can't be decided without fighting the other two belt holders. There is no clear #1 without all belt holders fighting each other.

Wants to unify the division but only plans on fighting twice this year. This guy said good thing this fight is early in the year so he could fight once more this year. Thurman seems to be the type of fighter that if he takes a beating, he'll sit out for months. This guy sat out the rest of the year after his Porter fight because he was too beat up from the fight.

I can't blame him for feeling hungry because most of his career he has been one of the most avoided fighters in boxing. None of the top dogs in the 147lb division wanted any part of him and that is including one Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Therefore, this fight presents itself as his career defining moment to shine in the spotlight.
