One it's on a Mexican Holiday which Cotto fight wasn't and 2 there is real bad blood here between canelo and chavez which will drive the PPV. It has a real shot at being the first fight to crack 1m since the Floyd vs Manny fight.
I think you are right, and they still have 2 full months to promote the fight. It is going to be interesting to hear what some of the Mexican boxing legends say about this fight as we get closer to May. I know some of them have given Canelo grief over the last couple of years. They have been silent about Chavez Jr. I don't know if it is because Jr. was considered irrelevant or out of respect for his father.

of course the better your opponent the more you sell, and thats cuz more of your own fans are willing to pay for a better product, not cuz your opponent is adding a similar fanbase...
floyd didnt sell the same vs chino, berto, ghost etc than he did vs mosley, cotto, marquez let alone canelo, still he didnt pay 15 million to any of those i mentioned... and i have to tell you canelo brought a huge fanbase for his fight with floyd, the fight broke records for a reason...

even Thurman/Garcia which is an even fight, good young guys in their prime unifying the division isn't even sold out yet,and the fight is tomorrow, thats what I just read on another site, when canelo fought smith,a totally unknown guy he still did decent numbers, think about this,he did a little less than what cotto did against Martinez, even chavez sold more against Martinez than cotto/Martinez did..canelo/chavez will do good and that gets the haters mad

canelos last attendance was 52k fans while chavez jr was like 2k or 3k, sure budy, chavez selling all those tickets...
I'm not talking about attendance as much as I'm talking about PPV. Yeah Canelo has a big turn out, but still his PPV numbers have dwindled when not having the right dance partner. And it helps knowing how to price the tickets, especially when you have that many seats to sell being that a lot of seats won't be close to the action so kudos on them for that. We all know Canelo is a name, no one is denying that. But it is obvious why they went after Chavez.

"Better accept that offer now, Li'l g, Oscar might withdraw it if you or Canelo get beat."

              LMAO!
I would presume that any agreement between the two parties would be enforceable only in the case that both won interim fights.

Floyd would not give any of those guys 10-15 million,he gave chino 1.5 in first fight, canelo has a lot of fans and what did he get against Floyd??..and what is golovkin asking for?.golovkin should be happy with what he's getting offered, just the other day on a Spanish interview he said he wanted half and half,,no way

It came damn close to a sold-out. I think they only missed it by 1500??? But again the ticket prices were insanely high.

nowhere in your post i saw anything about ppvs and the topic in this thread is about attendance, anyways we all know the better(bigger name) your opponent the more you sell, your own fans are more willing to buy a better product...
