Probably should get out of Puerto Rico and get with an American coach. Roach, Garcia, JDJ, etc
This..... He needs a change of environment. He needs to get out of Puerto Rico fast for at least 2 years and go find a trainer that is not always telling him he is great. He needs to get that hunger. The guy is talented so talented, but being told your the next big thing by everyone especially your trainer is not good.

At times he reminds me more of Junma Lopez in the fact that he is trying to knock people out and staying in the pocket for ever. He has such great movement but rarely uses it.

It's sad but the truth. To young to already be letting it slip away mentally.

I have no idea how many other fighters have gone down that route. It doesn't sound too encouraging though.

I agree 100%. If he wants to move forward and become the champion everyone thought he'd be, he needs to find a trainer that can take him to that next level. Marquez is harming this young man's career by not letting go of "his Diamante". Ricky Marquez reminds me of an NCAA coach who, just because he has been a great college coach, thinks he is next-level only to be grounded by reality when he makes the jump to the NBA and realizes he's garbage. Right now Verdejo can't seem to find that "second gear" that will allow him to move past the level where he's at and I put the entire blame on Ricky Marquez. I've seen Verdejo train and I know for a fact he works hard but, IMHO, he needs a better coach, better sparring and overall a better environment that will promote his growth and Ricky's "Diamante Boxing Club" is not at all the place where he needs to be.

...just laughing my ass off, I saw this coming two years ago when I met him at the Bithorne...this guy is full of doubts cause he can't trust anyone around him...he hears everybody talking about how great he is, but at the same time everybody criticizing him for fighting nobodies...and barely winning..he's looking more like another Dulorme...we're moving on, and now looking at Tito Acosta..the next great Puerto Rican hope...

He should just fight old ass Juan baby bull Diaz already and see where he's at. Old Baby Bull is still better than that last guy Verdejo struggled with.

For an Asian. Corelone is very poor in Math. Anyway Felix needs to hire a better trainer, and talk to Tito Trinidad.
