If everyone just stayed patient we would find out soon enough. The Jacobs fight is a step in the right direction, I am pretty sure we are going to see him against Canelo before the end of the year, which will be the best Barometer in around 160 for GGG as I think Canelo is an all-round elite fighter and more complete than Jacobs etc. If he wins that fight then you will probably see him make a run at 168-175 and chase further greatness. Hopkins didn't move up until he got those pay days.

As far as how brave GGG is or isn't, I think he is like 90% of the fighters out there, his team weigh up risk vs reward and go for the best available option.

In terms of how good he is? Remains to be seen, I think he is very good, not sure if he is truly great. I think he isn't overly impressive athletically, he is very hittable, only decent speed, but the power and his ring smarts more than make up for his weaknesses.

I think guys like Jacobs will expose certain things in his style but ultimately Jacobs doesn't tick all the boxes as a fighter, so I expect him to have success whilst it lasts but get taken out sooner rather than later, he is walking too much of a tight rope to win this.

Canelo is the big test for GGG at 160. Canelo has the speed and power to stop his in his tracks, technical, skilful, just very complete as a fighter. We'll know much more about GGG after that fight one way or another.
I totally disagree that Golovkin is very hittable. His statistical defensive rating is very high which for a pressure fighter is unusual.

Maybe Golovkin can break Brook's record and quit THREE times in a row? Then Brook would have more heart.

Interesting that this thread is back up again. The thing though now looking at it, it wasn't a very good move by Brook, because now he's taken 2 beatings so his marketability is diminished and he is structurally damaged, so for sure his future profits have been impacted. It takes courage to take the risk, but too much risk has consequences.

Not sure about Golovkin yet. They played the hand to get the cash cow Canelo and it panned out. If he blasts out Canelo, he'll have drawing power and we'll see then what he decides to do with it. Will it be strategic for dollars or will it be for glory?

Will he reach for Ward? Will he go for glory? Or will he again ask for the 15-20lb lighter(soaking wet after a steak dinner) Mayweather, for the dollars?

And I like Golovkin but to this point, I really don't know. We'll find out.

Why does Golovkin get so many of you guys worked up?

He always says he would fight Floyd at 154 if the opportunity presented itself. It has never been realistic and has never even been talked about between Floyd and K2. It just happens to be a dream fight for Golovkin.

He will move up. He wants to beat Canelo at middleweight and maybe go for the defense record. Also, it appears he may even be able to get all 4 belts. All of that is more important than trying to fight Ward at 168 when Ward can't make that weight and would be impossible to deal with in any negotiation. Plus, Ward never has shown real interest in fighting Golovkin...only misleading BS that was easy for any reasonable person to see through.

The anger that GGG gives you guys is insane. He is a fun fighter to watch, that has major skill and power, and represents the sport well. You should be a fan, instead.
Be careful my friend you're making far too much sense here. Bravo
