Comments Thread For: David Allen May Return On Haye-Bellew; Yafai Will Box In Germany

David Allen could be set to return sooner rather than later. The Conisbrough heavyweight returned to winning ways on Saturday on the back of two defeats at the hands of Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz. Allen (now 10-2-1, 7 KOs) took just 31 seconds to get rid of Hungary's Lukasz Rusiewicz at Hull's Ice Arena, as part of the undercard to Gavin McDonnell's brave but ultimately losing effort at the hands of Rey Vargas for the vacant WBC world super-bantamweight title.

Allen needs to be matched better. He stood no chance against Whyte and especially Ortiz, but then his fight on the weekend was just as bad but in the opposite way. He needs to be facing people who will actually teach him something

The winner of Sexton vs. Cornish for the BBBofC is a good fight to aim at once he's done tuning up though

LOL Dave Allen cracks me up in his IFL interviews with Kugan.

I think the plan for him is to have 2 or 3 more fights against British opposition and then move upwards towards a Sam Sexton / Gary Cornish fight.

Eddie calls it "operation white rhino"

        Yeah he's a likeable guy

I don't have super high expectations for his next opponent, just someone who can give him rounds and will throw a few punches in return, maybe Sokolowski

Cornish is fighting Sexton? I missed that, that's a really good British level fight. Excited for that one now. I agree that is the level Allen should be aiming for though. Maybe some fights against guys like Tom Little, Darch and Akinlade in the meantime would be solid.

The BBBofC ordered it for the vacant British title but I don't think it has a date or venue or anything yet

It's a good domestic fight but I doubt the winner will hold the title for long, with Gorman, Webb, Allen, etc., waiting in the wings

Sweet. Nice to see another fresh crop of British HW prospects starting to work their way up
