I can't blame golden boy entirely it's the system. The ring has fallen into the same cycle that the alphabet gang does. There's only a handful of elite fighters in boxing and most divisions have good to very good fighters so the elite class gets inflated with undeserving guys like canelo, AJ, Thurman, Rigo etc. The true elite like Manny and wlad are at the end of their careers and can't carry the torch forever.

The only thing that you really need to think about is if the shoe was on the other foot would The Ring react and apply the rules the same way?

If it was the GBP fighter looking for the shot at the crown and it was constantly being put off with such shenanigans by the non GBP fighter would the rules be applied the same? That is the thing about rules unless they are super specific there is always some room for interpretation.

Was that at canelo weight? Technically that is mw. So you support a fighter holding the lineal "title" and not fighting top contenders? Is that somehow better than any of the actual title belts? At least with those, at least one of them is going to force the champion to face a top contender once in a while.

Support it over stripping the champ and giving it to the #2 who won't fight the champ for $15 mil? Sure

He can't force Lil G to fight him. Not his fault.

Are you still talking about the lineal title? Cuz in that case you can't strip someone of nothing and give it to someone else. The ring doesn't have to strip him according to their rules. Even if you don't count the khan fight, he could schedule a fight right after the chavez fight and still keep the belt. It just looks ridiculous when you have a guy holding the belt but not really fighting at the weight, and then you have 2 top contenders facing eachother. Which one looks more legit to fans? If canelo was actually fighting at mw and saying ggg doesn't want the fight, it would seem more legit. I know it's fun for you to tell ggg fans he's not the mw champ, but in what other circumstance would you support someone doing what canelo is doing?

They were ordered to fight by the WBC. GGG said yes. Canelo said no and threw his title away and left the weight class to avoid GGG.

The #2 has the oppurtnity to fight for it and would get paid 5x he's ever made. Why should the champ be removed and replaced by the guy not accepting that offer? Makes no sense. Win it in the ring.

That was the past, WBC forcing their stupid rules not taking into account Canelo is a far bigger draw than Golovkin. Golovkin will be the one avoiding the fight if he turns down $15 mil. A clear duck.

I literally haven't bought the RING since GBP took over. I see their rankings every now and then and they're very spotty.
