I get Marquez not wanting to fight Pacquiao again (at least there were much more than 1), but the Ward fight was probably a draw and Ward acts like he took 10 rounds. Rematch him. You win again, you've got a pretty respectable legacy. You can't get all up in your feelings because the media and fans are yapping online. You're a fighter. It's like the guy above was saying, even Floyd rematched the ones everyone jumped all over him about being too close to call and won soundly in the next fight. Can you?

If you win, you don't necessarily have to be a ****, but you do get the opportunity to set the terms (especially in a situation where starpower isn't determinative).
Ward-Kovalev is the fight that'll happen next, but it's going to be Roc Nation Sports calling Main Events, not the other way around.Comment

Ward is under no further obligation to HBO, and is probably on his way across the street after the Kovalev fight.
Ward wants a fair deal on this final obligation to Kovalev, and he wants he and his camp as the lead parties here, before going on their way after the fight.Comment

Let's be real here.
Ward signed a contract for the rematch and the terms were already agreed upon.
Ward has a history of contract breaking and litigation.
Ward will likely be sued by Main Events and HBO and probably lose at least part of the 5 million dollars he stole after Kovalev v Ward 1.
He stole it because he has not lived up to the rematch clause. That is stealing, folks.
The best thing that could happen now is for Ward to retire. No one would care. No one really likes the dude anyway. His boxing style sucks, and he found a formula that wins fights without having any boxing skills and which is not within the Rules of Boxing.
Ward fanbois can paint it any way they want, but their man is a coward and a contract breaker. He says he's a Christian but his actions speak louder than his words.
Go away, Ward.Comment

Floyd never had to worry about his opponent, the opposing promoter, and the TV broadcast all calling his victory bull****, trying to dictate the rematch terms to him, thoughComment

This woman has shown me in the past that she has no problem lying and doing unprofessional stuff like using the media to put pressure on the other side during negotiations, so I wouldn't take her so seriously and if she really wants the rematch she better shut up and let roc nation dictate the terms like they're supposed to since they won the first fight.
Ward will rematch Kovalev, Ward still didn't make enough money in his career to be able to retire and HBO are probably not going to give him the broadcaster job, in the rematch he can make even more money than the first fight and then he can retire off of that. Ward can't make retirement money against anybody else but Kovalev and he can't fight anyone else until after the rematch, so the rematch is his only way.Last edited by Dip_Slide; 02-24-2017, 01:05 AM.Comment

Of course, they will. Andre Ward is a future hall of famer and this fight was supposed to be his biggest challenge. Even if he says that Froch and Miranda fights were tougher (I'd say that Bika fight was tough too), Kovalev is still the best name in his resumeComment

Like he's gonna make some money off the rematch. The fight was a ppv flop, and it's unlikely Roc Nation gonna pay him another 5 millions, because this investment didn't bring them their money backComment
