Comments Thread For: Wilder Aims To Send Message With Statement KO of Washington

This Saturday night may be Deontay Wilder's first fight back in seven months, but the WBC heavyweight champion wants to use it as an opportunity to remind his rivals that he is still a major player in the division. The 31-year-old "Bronze Bomber" makes the fifth defence of his coveted green belt when he takes on late replacement Gerald Washington, a bout which takes place in Wilder's home state of Alabama.

And the message is " I will continue to fight tomato cans who pose no threat with the endless number of voluntary title defenses I am allowed ....I will continue to fight in a small college arena in Alabama and continue to b one of the most insignificant American HW champs ever!!"

"This is the fight to make a statement, to let everybody know that Deontay Wilder is not playing around."

"It would've been foolish to face a killer in this fight!"

Yeah Wilder, that's a strong message alright. I'm facing soft opposition because I'm not a dummy but I'm going to show the fans how I'm not playing by KO Washington! Took a page right out of Canelo's playbook!

Wilder has everything's to lose and nothing to gain in this fight. He won't gain any credit if he stops Washington and no one is ever going to take him serious until he steps up and actually start facing opposition with a pulse.

This Pretender of a champion is a disgrace to boxing & the heavyweight division... one of the reasons it's the worst division in boxing and the least talented...

Wilder´s statement would be to finally fight at least a Top 10 opponent. I dont even talk about Joshua,Parker,Haye or Fury. Just a ****in Top 10 fighter like Pulev or Ortiz.
