What Does Taylor Have To Do To Beat Wright?

What do you think Jermain Taylor is going to have to do to beat Winky Wright? What does his gameplan have to be?

I heard Emmanuel Steward say that the way Taylor is going to win is by making Winky be the agressor and take him out of his element but I really don't get this because that would be putting his fighter out of his element. No matter how hard they train in the weeks leading up to this fight, Taylor will always be accustomed to fighting while pressing forward and if he does indeed apply this gameplan then he will have to figure out how to avoid the jab of Winky and het off shots of his own. I don't know I just think the whole plan doesn't make much sense. It's not like Winky is an all defensive fighter, he has a great jab and his straight left isn't something to be taken for granted. If he does do that then I expect a very ugly yet lopsided win for Winky. That would be bad imo.

I think that the one way to penetrate Winky's defense is to shoot through the middle. I think that a fighter with a good straight 1,2 would give Winky trouble. I remember after the first Hopkins fight the thing the Taylor camp vowed to do was straighten up Taylor's straight right. It was very loopy in the first fight and that cost him a lot of oppurtunities at clean shots because his set up was perfect but the loopiness of his punches had a lot of punches just glancing Hopkins instead of connecting flush. Then he came into the second fight and had the same problems. For Taylor's sake I REALLY hope they are straessing straighting up his right hand because if he can open Winky's defense with his hooks and even his jab to some degree, then shoot up the middle with the right hand, then I would give him a good chance to win. So basically, I think he just has to spread the defense of Winky with lead hooks and jabs and then shoot through the middle with the right. That only works if he doesn't have that loopy right hand it's straight. As of now though, I don't see him doing much more then landing on anything other then Winky's gloves and arms.

    Your thoughts?

He'll need to learn how to throw a hand full of rocks, because thats what he will need to touch him with anything.

Winky is gonna be suprised just how strong Taylor is and how big. He will be throwing nice combos, and straight shots and eventually he will catch WInky. Winky goes out late.

He should have a few plans going in:

He could try to rough him up on the inside...pull those dam gloves apart, throw uppercuts, body shots {maybe a few kidney shots }, combos

He could also just pop the jab right back at Winky since I think he has the longer reach, followed up with the straight right hand, if Winky is moved by those then you throw the hooks.

Just keep active and beat those arms too.

I am sure Emanuel is studying film on Winky, from his losses, to his changing of his style, etc.

Emanuel should have him prepared so I will leave it to him, then come back and complain if he fails in his job

I am not to fond of Winky's style at the moment:
First off, they should have rules on how puffy gloves can be...is it me or do those gloves Winky wears cover his entire head?

I can understand why he does it, it is to win, but he should also know why he doesn't sell tickets...he wants to make loads of money, thinks he deserves it, but doesn't fight the way most fans like to see a fight, to enjoy a fight. This sport is about more than just winning, it is to entertain the mob; though of course by submitting to such a mob it could get you hurt, but it will make you money and popular and isn't that what most Americans want

At least guys like Toney, Mayweather, Hopkins, etc., the guys known for the "Art of Boxing" are entertaining; though Hopkins when he got older became a bit boring.

Winky is like a women in bed who just lays there: she gets the job done, but it is boring entertainment/could of been better.
At least with the Women I can appreciate the body of work

Hey man, Winky's style aint nothing pretty to look at, but it gets the job done, and it's hard to come up with an answer for it. In the Soloman fight he landed some good shot because was throwing punches from every angleand stayed very busy, I think that anybodies best bet is, constant pressure, and shots from ever angle. If Taylor thinks he can fight his normal fight without picking up his output then it aint gonna happen, Winky can be the agressor with out giving Taylor a clean shot. Winky is finally getting his shot at the belt, and he's gonna be at the top of his game, and he'll probably beat Taylor in the lackluster way he beats most opponents, but technically he's one the baddest right now.

What Stewart released to the press is all hot air. BALONEY! He is just screwing up Team Winky's brains.

For real, how could he divulge their game plan in the open days before the fight? That's ******. And besides do you think Taylor will learn how to do "the waiting strategy" just over night?

Basic instinct baby! All Taylor knew is to attack and throw combinations and that's what he is going to do. You tell him to stop doing that, then he'll be screwing himself.

all taylor needs to do is not get KO'd if the fight is close he will get the nod, winky is old and getting ready to retire, taylor is a young cash cow, they wont let winky ruin it

That's the same bull**** that gave him the decisions over Hopkins, cause he's the marketable young gun, well **** that ****. Come on your gonna tell me he was on the attack with Hopkins, he would do some flurries but few and far between(and most didn't even land), they were both just waiting all night to counter the other's punch. I gotta admit I doubt taylor has what it takes, but i'll be the first to give him props if gets the win(only if it's not handed to him without earning it). I hate to agree with sturm but that's how this game goes sometimes, but i'd rather see the best fighter win. and how can Taylor be a cash cow if the fights not even on PPV

Taylor has to come at angles and go to the body. I dont think Stewart can have him ready for a Wright in 4 weeks.
