Comments Thread For: Chavez: I've Fought Better Opponents Than Canelo, I Can't Lose!

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is very confident that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will suffer the second defeat of his career when they collide on Cinco de Mayo weekend. The two boxers are scheduled to collide on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo (48-1-1 record with 34 knockouts) vs. Chavez Jr. (50-2-1 with 32 wins within the distance) will take place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds - and headlines an HBO Pay-Per-View card.

Thats good chavez jr has confidence, hes going to need it big time. The truth is gbp and canelo set this fight up knowing that chavez jr is a slow plodder who will just stand there and take massive amounts of punishment. This was a cherry pick for canelo, but who knows maybe chavez jr is going to train harder than he ever has and develop alot more quickness in this camp. Could be an interesting fight if chavez stays disciplined but i forsee and easy decision win for canelo

"The truth is, I don't have it in my mind that I'm going to lose. I'm going to win the fight. I don't see how I can lose the fight unless I have absolutely no conditioning and struggle with the weight."

which is exactly why Canelo chose to fight you

This fight with Canelo is providing the long lost motivation that's eluded Jr over the last 5 years.

If you just box this clown and keep him at range with your jab, you win this fight. Knowing your fighting style, you probably won't do either. They'll still be thousands of us cheering for you.

I never thought I'd cringe almost everytime I see pictures of Canola. It's a shame but that's how it is these days.

Greatly disagree with this. Chavez has never fought anyone with Canelo's reflexes. He's gonna miss all night long, and get countered to the body. It shouldn't be pretty.
