You are right. Browne never even entertained the idea of facing Beterbiev although he was ranked higher than Barrera and the fight would have been easy to make (no purse bid needed in this case) since both Browne and Beterviev are managed by Al Haymon.

Browne ducked Beterbiev and fought a gatekeeper with no defense and a suspect chin instead. A perfect opponent for Browne to look good coming off a loss.

As well? So you are implying than Barrera and Kovalev are hypejobs. No one is hyping Barrera and one of the lessons from Ward-Kovalev is that Kovalev is the real deal. You must have a different definition of the word hypejob than the rest of us.

However just before the February 17th deadline to submit a contract, Barrera and his manager Luis Molina received a contract which stipulated that the venue and date could be changed if the financial backer pulled out.

Molina knew that such an agreement was not allowed per purse bid rules. According to the IBF's rules, a date and venue must be on the contract without the provision to move the fight.
