Comments Thread For: Cautious Chavez Certain He'll Make 164.5 for Canelo Fight

NEW YORK Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. estimated Tuesday that he weighed 183 pounds. If he was telling the truth, that's encouraging news for Chavez fans, considering a fighter notorious for not taking training seriously still has 10 weeks to lose less than 20 pounds for his showdown with Mexican rival Canelo Alvarez. Chavez swore before a press conference at the Hard Rock Caf in Manhattan that he has learned costly lessons from failures in previous training camps that will keep him on track to make the 164-pound limit when he steps on a scale May 5 in Las Vegas.

Better grab the scale from Broner-Grenados, I hear it takes a pound and a half off

This could actually be an interesting fight. Even though Canelo comes into the fights around 175 or whatever, he's doing his training pretty much around that 154 mark normally. I wonder if he won't be as powerful going up? We'll get to see. Good cinco fight.

Look at his knuckles, he looked starving already.
Imagine how he'll look at 164.5

By comparison, Canelo be eating turkey every night and still make weight.

He'll make the way even if they have to rig the scale... Nacho knows a lot of tricks as does the old man...
