Eh he's a one hander fighter with okay power in his dominant hand. Got outclassed by "robotic" Kovalev except in the clinch. Every top level fight in his 2nd division is high risk so now he's trying to figure out how much he values his zero.

Yeah he got outboxed by Kovalev. That isn't so bad. At least I don't think it is so bad, because I think Kovalev is brilliant.
Even if people were saying Kovalev is robotic, even if Ward himself said it, it isn't true. There isn't any shame in losing to a fighter of his caliber. But it does help measure Ward's ability.

Ward lost a very close fight with the best LHW since RJJ (Yeah I know that wasn't RJJ's signature division, but he was still the best in it IMHO.)

That still makes Ward a great fighter. Plus he has the super 6. Now, you can put caveats on him winning that tournament - but no matter what he still comes out of it looking like a very, very good fighter.

The way Ward has managed his career, his choices, and even his personality are all pretty disappointing. As I said, he is hard to like. He is even harder to feel sympathetic for. His problems, and the criticism he gets, are all of his own making. That's just the facts.

But he is a great boxer regardless.

Retirement after grabbing titles from Kovalev who doesn't have slightest idea what's going on around him , was a game plan.
Ward was lucky to get into Supermiddle tournament against beawlers like Abraham , Kessler , Froch with very limited boxing skilled . They destroyed each other and Ward came out unharmed and victorious .
