2001-2010 absolutely not, but today, not so much. There are star fighters in each division, Loma, Crawford, GGG, Canelo, but not enough competition surrounding those divisions. In the 2000's we have the Featherweight division with Pac, Marquez, Barrera, Morales, Sanchez, then the lightweight, Casamayor, Castillo, Corrales, Mayweather. Then Welterweight, Williams, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Pacuqiao, Mayweather, Clottey.

Fu(king 50 year old Hopkins was beating top 3 light heavys....what does that tell you....There are a few fighters who could compete in any era.....Kovalev, Chocolatito, Ward, Lomachenko...the scene is so sad that Thurman-Garcia is a mega fight.....i love it in the context of todays scene, but these guys ain't on that all time contender level....

I think it depends on what division you are discussing. The glory divisions, HWT and MW, are significantly weaker than in the past. LHW, FW, and JBW are a really good. JW, LW and JWW are solid but not what they were. Cruiser is deep and probably as good as it ever was but gets no attention.

You need to be careful when comparing eras because some eras didn't have certain weight classes and the weigh in was different which forced fighters up or down.

Funny thing is I just saw a video today where Thurman was saying how he's already at that level and considers himself a "great" fighter. He said it once and I was like "Wait, what!? Maybe he didn't mean that" then he said it again to clarify and I just turned the video off as I couldn't listen to him spout nonsense

I think things are starting to look pretty good again. There are more good divisions than bad ones now

I'm not sure if there's a distinct lack of talent compared to prior decades, but definitely fewer marquis fights are being made. Promoter and broadcaster silos, as well as too many sanctioning bodies, have created a sport in which the best fighting the best is largely subordinated to business wrangling and politics. Frustrating.

Past is always glorified... You would have eras where they were saying the same back in the day too..
You can fight the best in your generation & you'll always be judged based on your predecessors not your successors..

The fights between two feather-fisted average guys like Frampton and Santa Cruz were also mega-fights to some.
