If it was OK for those guys to defend the lineal at catchweights, why not Canelo?
And why broadcast before even any negotiation begins that you aren't budging from 160?
That's what Golovkin did.
Doesn't sound like a guy confident he can beat anyone in 3 weight classes to me...
It's not on GGG to make concessions before the negotiations are ordered to start, he's not the one that's getting stripped, nor the one making the offer. Something Canelo failed to do before meekly surrendering the belt, and much fan respect

It's a big fight first.
Before all the belts, and all the lineal, and everything else,
it's a big fight.
And you do ALL YOU CAN to make the big fight.
You got one guy saying he is a 154 lber (albeit fighting at 155)
and one guy saying he can do 3 classes, even angling for a fight
with a welterweight in Floyd and eventually landing one in Brook.
You can call Canelo a punani all you like, but I just can't see any ATG making 4 lbs the reason he doesn't snatch at greatness, doesn't even try to negotiate a better catchweight.
That is what Golovkin is going to have to live with if the fight isn't made.
He had the shot at greatness and balked on his own words.

1. Shouldn't have paid the sanctioning fee, like Cotto. And shouldn't have conceded A side purse to Cotto just cause he had the belt
2. Or should have vacated on the spot
3. Or should have offered a CW when it was time to put up.
Didn't do any of those, decided he'd rather forfeit his belt than partake in the biggest fight in boxing. Shameful thing to excuse but that seems to be your thing

When is it going to get thru to you that he isn't obligated to offer Lil g anything, not even a fight?
When are you going to realize that Lil g had the exact same job as Floyd with DLH, Pac with DLH, and Cotto with Pac?
Stay in your lane, take what is offered and win to earn your own opportunities to dictate on a superstar level.
But Lil g wants to go all diva without paying any dues.
You call it excuses, but it isn't.
It is how the fight game has been played for almost half a century or more now.

Canelo has to fight undisputed champ Ggg if he wants to be the face of boxing. If he's OK being a sideshow and a local attraction, then fine

He is already the face of boxing.
He is the heir apparent to Pac and Floyd- and the fight with Jr. is shaping up to be his de facto coronation, the first time he tops a million as the headliner.
What's Lil g gonna do then?
You think GBP is going to keep 15M on the table if Canelo tops a million while Lil g Jacobs does 150K?
