No style is the best. It's the boxer using his style that makes the difference. Mayweather was a master boxer and he never lost a fight Few boxers had the skills, hand speed and foot speed to fight like the young Ali. Ali's style was more fun to watch in his younger fighting days because there was very little wrestling in most of his fights. The 38 year old Mayweather didn't take much punishment even at the end of his career while the older Ali got hit a lot.

            Ali had no defensive skills

His defense was solely based on his athleticism and reflexes, like RJJ's

once those assets started to wane, he started eating punches until he became a zombie

I dont like Floyd, but the guy is a defensive master

Some of the best headmovement the world has ever seen doesn't count as "defensive skills" in your book?

                This ^^^
                Can't compare a 200+lber to a guy who is around 150lb

Though he is not listed as an option here, I think style wise.. Wilder has more style than Ali & Floyd combined..

...so you think that Floyd's athleticism, and reflexes, don't play any part in him being as good as he is defensively..

Alis style was not some type of magic . He was hit often and was open to get hit . He was very big for HIS time period and could often avoid engaging with constant circling and back pedalling bc few had proper mobilty and had poor ring IQ how to cut off the ring usually following him eating shots not being able to get off punches .

I dont see how remotley Alis style is superior , no one today is going to fight with hands down and lean back from punches and get far in the HW division unless they are super giants, theres nothing smart about that . Mayweather was much more all around solid and harder to hit even though its 2 different weight classes more punches are thrown in the lighter ones . Ali also used ALOT of head pulling to stop an opponents inside progession ,this would be called out today. Mayweather is the more sound style clearly .

What Cassius Clay did as a heavyweight was /is uncomparable. It was after he went to prison that he came back that's when he was able to get hit more. Understand that they took away 3 years out of his boxing carrer & 3 years is a lot for a heavyweight. And if floyd had fought a good adversary like frazier he would of got hit a lot too. When Ali was still Cassius Clay he was untouchable!
