Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Will Aim To Be 175 To 178-Pounds in Ring With Canelo

If everything goes as expected, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will not even weigh 180 pounds when he enters the ring on May 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Part of Chavez's strategy is to eliminate the factor of carrying too much weight, which in turn would make him slow in the ring. The former WBC middleweight champion will face his country rival, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds.

Letting a fight marinate, then you run the risk of losing and then missing out on the chance of a big money fight. I think Chavez is serious as he came in over 2 pounds under weight for his last fight and I think he will make weight comfortably this time. I don't think that he's a great fighter, but Canelo is going to lose some speed at the higher weight and possibly not have as much power. I don't recall Chavez ever being knocked out either and he's fought some tough and bigger guys in his career. GGG is taking on a tough opponent and could possibly lose if he leaves himself open like he has in recent fights. I like that he's trying to get all the titles and is not waiting on Canelo, but he runs the risk of losing his next fight and a possible fight with Canelo. I wonder what I would win if a bet $100 on the underdogs?

I'm with you. Going to bet a few bucks on Chavez Jr. in the hopes that I win some money.

But I doubt he will only weigh 178 max

Canelo, who is moving up from the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds, will use speed and movement to deal with the bigger man.
Ummm, no lol. Everyone knows Canelo comes up Caneloweight.

This fight should have never been made in the first place. Chavez, Jr and Goldie both know that it's too much weight for him to cut without depleting the body of the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals it need in order function properly.

The man is over 30 years old now; A time when the body's constitution begins to gradually slow down. Moreover Canelo Alvarez is the naturally smaller man anyhow. So it won't be hard for him to make the weight.

Soft Lazy Chavez jr lacks heart and courage and QUITS

Soft taco Chavez jr can come in the ring at 210lbs and still lack the heart and courage to beat Canelo. Chavez is a QUITTER with little drive to win big fights. Money cannot buy heart and courage or the will to win. daddy' taco Sr cannot help junior win a fight as heart is not transferred. Canelo wins the fight no matter what soft heartless lazy Chavez weighs.
