Typically, in a contract dispute, wherever the contract originated would have jurisdiction over any disputes.
This is why I was surprised Povetkin attended the proceedings, he would have to anyways since the case from brought to attention in a court in america, but I thought he would say phuck it am not American etc.

It should of been an open and shut case considering the dude was caught multiple times red handed.

This is how it should be. Fight cancelled and huge fine for losses when you dope. If fighters thought they might be bankrupted they'd think a lot harder about taking gear.

Wilder sued for $5 million in damages because their May 21 fight in Moscow was canceled due to Povetkin's postitive test for meldonium, a banned performance-enhancing drug.

maybe we need a precedent, or even a law-change

I think the financial liability should fall on the promoter

            reason why.....

the promoter is the party who benefits financially, and they are the only party who has enough influence to mandate their fighters to USADA/VADA testing

Wilder should be able to sue Povetkin's promoter, who should in turn be able to recoup part-costs (at least) from Povetkin contractually..... as-in, you now legally owe me x number of fights

result being, if you get caught doping your career is either over, period..... or it will stall for 2 years +..... which is fair enough you cheating fk

On a purse bid, which this was, the money is held in escrow.

If a judge orders it released to Wilder's side, nothing the Ruskies can do about it.

Sry! I know what you were getting at now. How DUMB can Andrei Ryabinsky be??? He already WON this same type of case years ago??? Did he some how think PEDvetkin was above the rules and laws??? He should of just settled and SAVED him a SHT ton of $$$$. Now Don King is gonna bend him over next.

Whats Really sad is PEDvetkins promotor already WON for the SAME sht he's fighting AGAINST???

"A U.S. judge on Monday ordered boxing promoter Don King to pay more than $1.5 million for breach of contract over a World Boxing Association cruiserweight championship bout that was canceled after one of his fighters failed a drug test." - The case stemmed from the cancellation of the April 25, 2014, fight between Don King's: Guillermo Jones and Ryabinskiy's: Denis Lebedev in Moscow, after Jones tested positive for the diuretic furosemide.

"U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin in Manhattan decided on the award, plus accrued interest, in favor of Russian boxing promoters Andrey Ryabinskiy "

HOW FKN ****** can you he be??????

Don King has started to unzip his pants and is walking up behind Ryabinskiy saying "yeah remember me??" " Well you just pulled the SAME sht on Bermane Stiverne so BEND over"...
