A Physical Dialogue: Ward vs Kovalev

even in the gifs supposed to show ward's positive moments, kovalev was still getting the better of him. There had to have been some better ward stuff to show.

Contrary the criticisms levelled by some that the fight wasn't particularly entertaining I found the bout utterly enthralling - full of nuance and subtle shifts in momentum and ascendance - hell, even the extensive grappling and clinching offered intrigue - the minute shifts in balance or position to create or deny openings were fascinating, specially to one with a background in judo (though I can see how it might not be to everyones taste
).
Nice piece, my friend.Comment

I know what you mean, but a lot of that was down to who they are and what was at stake. If it was some off tv undercard fight between 2 unranked contenders with .500 records, you probably wouldn't have found it as enthralling.Contrary the criticisms levelled by some that the fight wasn't particularly entertaining I found the bout utterly enthralling - full of nuance and subtle shifts in momentum and ascendance - hell, even the extensive grappling and clinching offered intrigue - the minute shifts in balance or position to create or deny openings were fascinating, specially to one with a background in judo (though I can see how it might not be to everyones taste

Indeed. You're almost certainly right - and I've acknowledged this is some of my post fight posts I think - I'm a jaded old git, and hadn't been so emotionally invested in a fight for a long time, although to be fair I do actually watch a lot of small fights from around the globe between guys no-one ever heard of and often find them just as entertaining as the 'big' fights ... so I ain't a fame junky, but I probably wouldn't be waxing lyrical if one of those had had as much clinching in it.

My background is origionally MMA, so I find the clinchwork interesting but yeah, it's not pretty to the boxing purists.Ward is really active from the clinch and it's clearly something Kov worked hard to stop.Contrary the criticisms levelled by some that the fight wasn't particularly entertaining I found the bout utterly enthralling - full of nuance and subtle shifts in momentum and ascendance - hell, even the extensive grappling and clinching offered intrigue - the minute shifts in balance or position to create or deny openings were fascinating, specially to one with a background in judo (though I can see how it might not be to everyones taste

The hype and the event is all part of the show. No matter what, the anticipation is always gonna be higher for competition at the highest level.Indeed.
