David Coldwell, the head trainer for Olympic bronze medal winner David Price (21-4, 18 KOs), is devastated after his fighter was once again knocked out last Saturday night in London. Price started off well and even dropped opponent Christian Hammer in the fifth round. But he couldn't finish Hammer off, and the German boxer battled back. Price seemed to fade with each passing round and by the seventh he was exhausted as Hammer was unloading with punches. Once Price appeared to be defenseless the referee jumped in to wave off the fight.

Some people don't realise that and think you just haven't trained. No, he sparred 12 rounds for the fight and in the gym he was faster, sharper. He had sparred with some big men, 6ft 6in, 18 and a half stone fighters who are quick.

I can take the grief on social media, but first things first, I'm not a strength and conditioning coach. My fighters have their own strength and conditioning coaches. Price was happy with his coach, but regardless of that, he did 12 rounds eight days before the fight, with two sparring partners.
Is that a joke? He sparred 12 rounds in total?

im guessing what he meant was that david price showed in sparring he could go 12 rounds, not that his camp consisted of 12 rounds in total

I think he meant that he trained properly and with strong sparring partners, he went 12 rounds eight days before fight night with 2 sparring partners (6 rounds a piece) I guess.

So he sparred for for 12 rounds during the entire training period & that was just 8 days before the fight?
Sure, good work then.. Well deserved whopping then.. I was just seeing Thompson-Price II & Price for the life of me has no defense & has a china chin.. His idea of defense is holding hands up & bending down to eat uppercuts.. I'm surprised he went this far in world level..

Its out of context! and part of the quote is missing. Here is what was really said:

"David Sparred 12 rounds and kicked the living crap out of Audley for all those rounds, he was ready."

David price needs to seriously improve hes conditioning he needs a better trainer then dave coldwell. And he definetly needs a better strength and conditioning coach. He needs to learn how to use the jab and pace himself i mean the guys massive .

just watched the full interview. Dave coldwell trying to wash his hands of him by the sounds of it, basicallysaid that it was all a mental issue and nothing to do with the camp. I think its somewhere in the middle. Cause to be honest david price came into the ring in a state physically, carrying lots of excess fat. Being nervous and tense makes a massive difference but when i see him gassing after a round or 2 i fail to believe that a better strength and conditioning trainer wouldnt have made him fitter.

Yea. If we go by that interview and by the shape Price was in you can easily say that's what he meant. Lol
