I agree. Khan is hella' dumb. But his advisors (Vali and in particular that new White guy) are not.
They lured Kell/Eddie into negotiations despite knowing full well that they were always going to take a tune-up in April. The 70-30 split is irrelevant for now, because the fight isn't even taking place. Eddie was so desperate for this fight for Brook (as it served as far more lucrative and EASY alternative to Spence), that he himself even wanted Kell and his dad to accept the fixed-figure offer.
But unfortunately, the mere move of going into talks with Khan at 147 (only for Khan to reject), put them in a position where they HAD to confront the Spence issue. There's a reason why Khan would come out with quotes like "I can never respect a champion that hands over his belt" and "I need to test my hand, Kell in the meantime can get his mandatory out of the way". They just want to put Kell through the meat-grinder against tough opposition, and make him stay at the weight for longer.
